    Went for Sunday brunch, the prices were very reasonable. I got an omelet and it was delicious. My husband got eggs benedict which came with their potatoes. Well, there was cheese cooked in them. He is allergic to cheese. He asked for some without and the server said they don't have any. What made me irritated was for "Market Street" he didn't even offer any kind of replacement. He was very short with us. Then later trying to make up for it so he could get a decent tip he tried talking to us but by then it was just annoying. Wish I had his name. It was on the Oyster Bar side. We were at IHOP the week before out of town and we got WAY better service. I realize it was just this one kid but maybe the restaurant really didn't have regular potatoes - which means they're pre-made? For a nice place, that makes me question.

    I have such a hard time with this place. The food is fantastic, but is it worth super slow service and rude servers? We usually go with a group of 7 and it takes at least 2 hours to finish our meal. Which would be fine except usually the first 1/2 hour is just waiting. They try to make it fine dining but it just doesn't cut it. I have eaten here regularly for almost 7 years and each year the service gets worse. Now that I try to take young children it is horrible. Often times we have servers try to completely ignore my kids and their orders altogether even though they eat fish and love coming! I will say their desserts are awesome.

    I've had lunch here three times and the food is always fantastic. It's the food that kept me coming back. The problem is the amateurish service. They really need to hire some experienced fine dining servers or get some sort of training program going for the current staff. I won't be returning a fourth time.

    My favorite thing about my visit today was that when I asked for any off-the-menu vegetarian options, the waitress suggested a vegetable alfredo pasta, which was delicious. It had big chunks of asparagus, artichoke hearts, green onions and mushrooms and the best vegetarian pasta dish I've had for a while. Also, when I asked to switch my salad for some fries (they really are that delicious) she was accommodating. As other reviews have stated, it really is pricey, but apparently not enough to keep away people. We were one of the first customers through the door and the dining room was full by the time we left.

    I tried the local Utah Trout I believe. It was rather forgettable. I should have opted for their seafood cobb, that looked a lot better. The service was awesome! I ordered an ice tea, and I already got a refill before I was half way done with it.

    I have eaten at Market Street several times since it has opened and the food has been great. Recently I went for brunch on a Sunday and the service was HORRIBLE. We had a reservation, but it still took an hour to get us seated. Once we were seated it took over an hour for the food. The waitress acted like she was doing us a favor by serving us. Sad to see a restaurant with such great food have such horrible service. I dont think you will see me here anytime soon if at all.

    Was there yesterday, Ordered there Hawaii Ahi Tuna, Tuna was great Pan seared and not over cooked. They did smother it in some Teriyaki type sauce, I thought the sauce was overwhelming the tuna all you could taste was the sauce. But using a butter knife to scrape off some of the sauce and it was great. My folks got the Stuffed Halibut w/ crabcake said it was the best halibut since living back east. Service was great our waiter was there every 10 minutes or so making sure everything was good. In total with tip spend about 150 bucks for the 3 of us was a little more than I like to spend but was my Dads B-day so was well worth it. Will dine again now want to try there crab and lobster awesome place to get seafood in the desert

    I wouldn't expect to have great seafood in UT. Market Street was really good. The oysters were fresh and large. The clam chowder was creamy and peppery. The ahi tuna was good. My first serving, I had to send back, because the tuna was overcooked. The waitress was very understanding by kindly taking back the tuna and giving me another cut. I am willing to go back here.

    PASS THIS PLACE UP! MARGINAL FOOD AT HIGH PRICES. POOR OVERALL EXPERIENCE! We were looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate our daughter's graduation. I was recommended to Market St. Grill by a friend who lives in Utah (she did recommended the Salt Lake restaurant, but we choose South Jordan for location). I looked up their menu on line and decided it fit our needs. That was my first mistake. The on-line menu is incorrect. We arrived and our table for 14 was set up and it looked like a good start. That was the end of that feeling. Our party of 14 began to order. With three vegetarians in the group, I was confident due to the pasta dish on their on-line menu. We were informed that it was no longer available. Worse than that, they were completely UN-accommodating in trying to solve the problem. They said they couldn't make a grill cheese sandwich (the restaurant serves bread and dishes with cheese), all other suggestions were shot down for a vegetarian choice and nothing was offered. We ordered two large platters of shrimp for appetizers. They were fishy and watery. I asked for a Caesar salad with grilled prawns and they acted like they had never heard of such a thing! The prawns were substandard and overcooked. For a seafood restaurant, their seafood is VERY substandard. Every person in our party commented after they would not return. We wanted to go to a local place, but would have been better off had we gone to California Pizza Kitchen, as we did the evening before. Although it's a chain, the food and overall experience is much better. While the servers were cheerful, one flirted relentlessly with one of the young ladies in our party, and made her very uncomfortable. PASS this place up. Pricey for poor quality food and unaccommodating service. It was a big disappointment for an important celebration.

    Don't get it, don't get it, don't get it. I'm sure your thinking. . . "I wonder if this guy gets it?" For clarity, let me just say that I don't get it. I have ordered a number of their dishes over a number of visits, always seafood (as that seems the logical choice from a seafood restaurant) and beyond the crab during their crab event nothing has impressed me. Which stinks considering the pricing. Service staff always feels a little stiff and less than friendly.

    I have been to this location a number of times. I have also been to the location downtown many times. I'm familiar with this restaurant. So, this review is based on the several visits to this location. Rule number one: DO NOT order a steak. Rule number two: DO order seafood. Keeping in mind that this is Utah, the seafood is pretty good. This place cannot cook a steak to save their lives. You will regret ordering a steak here. I've never had any issues with service or staff friendliness. But I have had issues with steaks. I have had steaks ordered medium and they come out completely well done. Not a smidgen of pink or red to be found. I have had steaks come out raw, yes I really do mean raw, when ordered medium. Seriously raw, as in not cooked. They comp'ed the meals, which is good they recognize their mistakes. The seafood that I have had was very tasty. I think the prices reflect the fact that they try to get in "fresh" fish product. In Utah this can be expensive. You can never be to sure just how fresh fish is in Utah. They also have a fish counter where you can buy unprepared fish. Most of it looked good but I have never tried any. The prices seemed reasonable and the options were many. They sell fish that you can't get anywhere else except maybe Tony Caputo Market & Deli downtown. The Sunday morning brunch is delicious and very affordable. If you go early on Sunday, they have lesser prices for brunch.

    I've always loved Market Street Grill! This time was a special occasion for Valentine's Day and it was dead-on perfect! The food was phenomenal - I mean I thought I'd been grilling some good steaks and then I had the beef medallions with crab and realized I'd been grilling garbage. Their clam chowder is the best anywhere, and the sour dough bread is to die for. In addition, the server was great - he put up with all our requests for pictures, was very prompt, kept our glasses full, etc. The ambiance was perfect and there were some really fun characters to watch as well - Teen Wolf, Meth Girl, Blonde Rachel Dratch and fighting couple. Oh, the cute older couple that was watching Kimberly and I for a while and smiling, well that was fun too. To top off the night, we ordered the Key Lime Pie. Now, I've heard the Rasberry Almond Torte is great too, but - I'm not even kidding - the Key Lime Pie made me stop and reconsider everything I'd ever known in life it was SO good. I wanted to eat an entire pie, instead of just the slice we ordered. I coulda done it! I love this place, I would eat here weekly if it wasn't so dang expensive. But for special occasions, it is perfect!

    I want you to imagine your wedding day. Ok now imagine that youre the groom. If youre a chick, its totally fine. Just roll with it. The stage is set. You've got all your friends and family around. Your wife's parents didn't have a budget and even hired J Lo to be the wedding planner. The day is perfect. First comes the flower girl, now, instead of dropping flowers, she is dropping lettuce that just took a bath in caesar dressing. Each time she drops a "flower" she is dropping a slice of the most crisp, delicious mouth watering piece of lettuce you can imagine. The pieces migrate to your plate to form a most amazing caesar salad that have ever danced on your tongue. Next the ring bearer comes. This chubby dimply cheeked boy comes down with a designer pillow and when he gets to you, you untie what would be the rings but instead, this little guy came bearing bread and a scumptious serving of clam chowder. Is that the red or the white? It was the white. This amazing heap of carbs is putting your marriage in question. You've found yourself debating do I marry my fiancé or this gorgeous loaf of love and his sister clam? Next, you hear it, you feel your heart start to pound, the music starts. Elton John begins to play the brides march. You can almost see it, growing with anticipation, you heart beats faster and faster, you want to see it so bad, slowly the bride makes her way down the aisle. Coworkers, friends, and family are astonished at her beauty. Finally she gets to you. You extend both arms and begin to lift the brides veil. You lift slowly until finally it's off. BOOM. Lightly crusted halibut oscar with crab & asparagus up on its roof top like old saint nick. SLAM! Your wedding and Christmas just happened. You have never seen anything so beautiful in your life. You take mental pictures and will remember this day for the rest of your life.

    I either went on a really good night for steaks or the other people reviewing are smoking something..... I had the Filet and it was cooked to perfection. The potatoes were amazing and the clam chowder soup was in the top 2 I have ever had. We also had some jumbo shrimp for appetizers ... they were pretty good, and I am not a huge fan of shrimp that is not battered and dipped in coconut .... Again, after eating a Filet at Ruth Chris its hard to give any place 5 stars, but this was very worthy of 4 stars and a visit back. All in our group seemed to enjoy what they got and the service was good. I guess we went on a good night!

    We've been eating at Market Street Grill for 15 years, for business and personal. It's always been a favorite until this past year or two. Not sure if it's the Riverpark location, which is closer to where we live, but the standard has dropped substantially. Have our tastes changed over the years, or is it really this bad? Of course, the bread is still good. But everything else seems so pedestrian. Heavy sauces, bland food, no finesse. All this wouldn't be as bad if they weren't charging fine dining prices. Example: last night (our LAST) some friends invited us there. I ordered large sea scallops with a lobster sauce. I opted for Steamed veggies instead of a starch. This was $27.00. I got THREE scallops, not particularily large on a plate, swimming in a thick sauce (no idea what kind) then topped with ANOTHER sauce (some kind of cheese sauce maybe) with 2 little sprigs of lobster meat. And a side of sauteed squash. Yup, you got it. Squash, 3 scallops, tiny bit of Lobster in gobs of sauce for $27 dollars. Oh, I guess I got a skimpy salad too. Woot. I asked for some cappellini pasta to soak up some of the sauce. So at least I left full, but really, it was pretty terrible. I walked out and said to my husband LAST TIME and he agreed. We had already made that decision the last time (a few months ago), but didn't want to disappoint our friends. Friends or not, not happening. On top of that, our service was poor. Overworked waiters, trying to save money? Mixed up my husband's order, wrong salad. Of course, the place is still beautiful, the almond raspberry torte is awesome too, but I'll just make it myself from now on.

    We just left here for our birthday brunch and it was delicious! David is a great waiter and they gave as free dessert and free drinks, we were spoiled! I highly recommend the Eggs Benedict or Crab Omelette for a Sunday brunch or special occasion. I think the lunch and dinner are a bit pricey for what you get but the brunch is just the best! The Bloody Mary's are delicious and so cute served with shrimp and celery, and the fresh squeezed orange juice is phenomenal. Keep up the good work!

    Prices went up a couple of months ago for food that was already over priced. They do have a good frequent diner program and annual birthday discounts. The crab legs are to die for but you need a loan to pay for them.

    Had the prime rib and it was good. Wife had halibut and it was just ok. Nothing special about this place, and it's very expensive for what you get. I don't understand why everyone raves about it. I guess it's a Utah thing.

    Visited friends past weekend so we went here for brunch. We missed the early bird menu by ten minutes (over 10am) which probably would have resulted in at least one more star given the 20%+ discount on four items including eggs benedict. One friend ordered them; looked very good and egg size jumbo. She really enjoyed it as she does not eat the potatoes which were terrible to me and blah to the other two (a scoop of hard cooked potatoes diced and covered with cheese - only good part). For $4 more they added a couple ounces of crab legs to her EG. Other friend ordered a seafood omelet which had no seafood that he could pick out. They are not complainers so he did not mention that until after we left. I had asked about other potato choices before ordering; none; which is absurd given that the $9.50+ breakfast items came with no toast or muffin, only sticky buns upon arrival (good but not everyone wants a sugar high which breakfast). My ham and cheese omelet was over cooked and had about 2 ounces of ham (she had said it was a slice chopped up). There was plenty of cheese. The server was very attentive and nice and one friend did enjoy his Bloody Mary cocktail (we sat on the Oyster Bar side as they wanted to drink but our meals were the same as the other side which is why I rated under this side - two names on Yelp for same building.

    If only I had reviewed this location a few months ago, it would have received 4 stars. Alas, a fairly brutal server experience while the in-laws were in town made me pissy. Some of the highlights --3 requests for bread. We heard, 'your bread will be right out' so many times we started saying it ourselves, hoping that at any minute our chants would come true -- and 27 minutes for icecream and a piece of cake. Really? 27 minutes? I can run 3 miles in that amount of time. Dis-appoint-ing. Truly.

    We came for a Christmas event with expectations high and stomachs empty. Overall we left very satisfied. Our server Jayson was energetic and very adept at answering our many questions about the menu. He actually had recommendations that weren't even on the menu which I appreciate being our first time here. The crab cakes were tasty with mostly crab and very little filler in them. The crab artichoke dip was perfectly crafted with some crunchy breading broiled on top. It really hit the spot. Swordfish was decent but nothing to scream about. The king crab legs were perfection. They were enormous and so sweet. I would venture to say that for seafood in land locked Utah, this is the best place to get it.

    it's rare we leave a ton of food - but we did. my fish was to be encrusted with pistasios and it was more like lightly dusted. we also ordered the stuffed mushrooms - 2 coworkers and i couldn't even bring ourselves to finish 1 each. drinks were over priced and the waitress was just ok. i won't be going back (this was my second attempt)

    For my birthday I came here with a group of 18 people for brunch. Out of every restaurant I called they were happy to accommodate our large group. The Bloody Mary's were delicious and spicy. There was a small menu basically eggs Benedict with options of adding on crab cakes (delicious) or salmon (large portion cooked perfectly moist and flaky) or steak. They had a few omelet choices, french toast and brought to the table before meals was plates of fresh cinnamon rolls. Service was not rushed and they were very pleasant when dividing up the check.

    I really like Market Street and I'm not afraid to admit it! They fly in fresh seafood daily and they let you know which selectoins are fresh off the plane. The clam chowder at Market Street is every bit as good as what I had in San Francisco. And that is high praise, indeed. I've never had poorly prepared fish here and I've been to this particular location many times. The only complaint I have with Market Street is about their side dishes. You get to choose from bland boiled potatoes, plain-jane rice or not-so-great french fries. All 3 are sub-par, to put it mildly. If they would get some TASTY and inventive side dish choices, I'd bump Market Street to 5 stars.

    So your staying at home 2 suites your tired just got off the plane, checked in to the hotel., etc. It's close you can walk how bad can it be? It's bad! Hire a limo, helicopter, sled dogs, whatever, but find some where else to eat. Your taste buds will thank you and other parts of your anatomy will thank you. Heed my warning! Run.

    Very cool decor since the remodel. The hostess seemed preoccupied and was devoid of personality when informing us that our table wouldn't be ready until our reservation time. (We arrived about 10 minutes early.) Our server was very personable and did a fantastic job of taking care of us. The sour dough bread is outstanding as are the onion rings and crab and artichoke dip. The mashed potatoes were very tasty. That's where the good stopped though. Two of our group of 7 ordered the stuffed tilapia but they ran out of that. The crab cakes were bland and served with tarter sauce. Who does that? The salmon was over cooked and fishy, and the steaks, while tender and flavorful, were both cooked blood rare despite being ordered medium and medium rare. The highly-touted clam chowder was mediocre at best and almost entirely devoid of clams. Everything seems to be priced about $5-$10 more than what feels reasonable especially considering that we were eating the same types of things on Grand Cayman just a week ago and the prices on the island were cheaper. The kitchen was incredibly slow between courses and the server acknowledged that "we're not usually this slow." The restaurant was busy but not crazy busy. Our dinner took 2 1/2 hours without wine service. The desserts were amazing!

    I've always enjoyed Market Street and have had some of the best Eggs Benedict in breakfast land here. Today I went for lunch and was expecting, in Market Street fashion, to sell off a kidney to eat here (dinners tend to be on the expensive side.) 6 bucks. I got out for 6 bucks. Now, granted, I didn't have the cavier lunch special for $75 (my question is, Who is stuffy enough to order that? Really?) I really didn't order anything from the menu. What I DID order deserves its own paragraph. Have you ever had Clam Chowder so awesome you wanted the recipe? That's what they have at the MS. It comes in a large portion and is served with all of the fresh baked french bread you can eat it with. I actually didn't even touch my spoon. With a drink my total was under $6. Clam- Tastic!! Oh, and for the record, you can find the recipe for their chowder on their website. I've tried it. It isn't the exact recipe but close enough to make at home in your PJs and enjoy. I should also mention their are several sandwich / soup or salad / soup options to choose from under the $10 price point. You'll get to experience a fine(r) dining establishment at a price that lets you keep all of your organs.

    Ah, Market Street Grill. This will have been my 3rd time going. Each time would mean a dent in the wallet.... Luckily, this was a company lunch and the boss was paying :) When I think Market Street, I think fresh meats. That's the experience I got each time I went. This time, I decided to go with the White Ivory Salmon, served Oscar Style. The cost of the plate was about $33.00. The portion was good and definitely filled me up. It came with the fresh salmon, rice, and fries. The Oscar Style accompanied the salon with asparagus, crab cake, and bearnaise sauce. Rice was good, and fries were crunchy. Great sides! Service was okay. We had a party of about 11 and the food was brought out in a timely manner. Waiters would constantly fill our drinks and were very knowledgeable about the foods they served. On other occasions I went, the portions weren't big, but the cost was! But, I guess you know you'll be getting fresh meats and good service.

    I've loved various Gastronomy restaurants my whole life, but service and execution at this location at brunch a few weeks ago left a lot to be desired. In all fairness, our server was in training, but still. We waited five minutes before any server even noticed we'd been seated (and a while after that before he found our server for us) and our appetizer cups of clam chowder arrived as bowls with our entrees-- we didn't even have room on the table for it. Service was crazy slow and we had to ask for cinnamon rolls. Our drinks, screwdrivers, bloody marys and greyhounds, were unfortunately weak, but the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control might be to blame in that area. On the bright side, the brunch food was great. I had the seared ahi-- the soy ginger sauce was amazing and the tuna was cooked rare perfectly. My fiancé enjoyed his New York steak and eggs. I don't remember what my dad had, but he liked it. My mom had the halibut and said it was cooked well, but was served cold. The cinnamon roll and sourdough bread were great as always. The broiled tomato is a good choice and makes you feel slightly better about gorging on brunch, but the breakfast potatoes are fantastic. I'm hoping this was an anomaly because I'd love to go back.

    Exceptional service...our waiter was running! The food was exceptional and I would gladly go back again and again! It is a tad expensive but I persevered the fairly strong, but good up-sell and my meal was quite reasonable!

    Love going to Market Street Grill. It is always a special treat. It is definitely on the high end side. It is worth it though. The food is always delicious. My favorites have been the Salmon with crab, asparagus and a creamy sauce on top, and the ahi tuna steak. Everything is always cooked to perfection. The vegetable sides are always fresh and in season. Most recently it was the brussel sprouts, cooked perfectly. I have never loved brussel sprouts more in my life. The potatoes are great in all forms, mashed, au gratin, and fries. The waiters are always attentive and knowledgeable. They give great wine pairing for each portion of the meal. When I ordered the traditional stuffed salmon the waiter told me that I should not get the stuffed salmon from the menu and go with the crab, asparagus salmon. I appreciate a waiter that is not afraid to tell you that you may be making mistake. Always get the clam chowder!! It is the best that I have had anywhere!!

    I feel like Market Street Grill is like The Emperor's New Clothes of restaurants. People flock to the restaurant and pay hefty prices for terrible food. I've been to three different locations for others' birthdays and every time, every location serves food that tastes premade, frozen, thawed, and reheated. The appetizers, fish, and desserts have all tasted prepackaged and mediocre at best. Don't waste your money! Honestly, they have better fish at Costco in the frozen food section.

    Place is pretty good. The planked salmon is great. Best clam chowder out there. Dinner is a bit expensive for the amount of food you get. Service is good and the place is clean. Needs to be updated because you can tell furniture is old and dated. I would say make this the place your 2nd choice. For the price I would expect better food and an updated establishment. Unless your trying to impress your date or co workers by dropping $100 for dinner go somewhere cheaper with better food. Jason has been the best waiter we have had so far.

    I think this all depends on who's in the kitchen. We've had good experiences where the fish was cooked and flavored well, but more times it hasn't been. Very inconsistent. Love the decor and atmosphere. Service has always been fine.

    Yeah--they have four-cheese ravioli on the menu again!! Their vendor went out of business so they make their own now. I thought the sauce used to be a creamy marinara but our server said it is the same. The $16 small lunch special only came with two pieces of garlic bread, so I ordered a house salad--always great. The halibut with hollandaise sauce was just okay. Nice cheesy potatoes and fresh broccoli. My daughter ordered their delicious clam chowder with her entree. Their best dessert is probably the raspberry almond sponge cake. Yum. But $70 for lunch with no drinks? Yikes!!

    The clam chower and sour dough bread are amazingly good. We also enjoyed their crab capresie (sp?) salad that was wonderful. The tuna sandwich was barely OK though, It had a big slice of tomato. But tomato in March tastes like a golf ball, which made the entire sandwich taste like a golf ball. I think in the winter they should try something else to liven up the sandwich.

    So your staying at home 2 suites your tired just got off the plane, checked in to the hotel., etc. It's close you can walk how bad can it be? It's bad! Hire a limo, helicopter, sled dogs, whatever, but find some where else to eat. Your taste buds will thank you and other parts of your anatomy will thank you. Heed my warning! Run.

    I really like Market Street and I'm not afraid to admit it! They fly in fresh seafood daily and they let you know which selectoins are fresh off the plane. The clam chowder at Market Street is every bit as good as what I had in San Francisco. And that is high praise, indeed. I've never had poorly prepared fish here and I've been to this particular location many times. The only complaint I have with Market Street is about their side dishes. You get to choose from bland boiled potatoes, plain-jane rice or not-so-great french fries. All 3 are sub-par, to put it mildly. If they would get some TASTY and inventive side dish choices, I'd bump Market Street to 5 stars.

    Very cool decor since the remodel. The hostess seemed preoccupied and was devoid of personality when informing us that our table wouldn't be ready until our reservation time. (We arrived about 10 minutes early.) Our server was very personable and did a fantastic job of taking care of us. The sour dough bread is outstanding as are the onion rings and crab and artichoke dip. The mashed potatoes were very tasty. That's where the good stopped though. Two of our group of 7 ordered the stuffed tilapia but they ran out of that. The crab cakes were bland and served with tarter sauce. Who does that? The salmon was over cooked and fishy, and the steaks, while tender and flavorful, were both cooked blood rare despite being ordered medium and medium rare. The highly-touted clam chowder was mediocre at best and almost entirely devoid of clams. Everything seems to be priced about $5-$10 more than what feels reasonable especially considering that we were eating the same types of things on Grand Cayman just a week ago and the prices on the island were cheaper. The kitchen was incredibly slow between courses and the server acknowledged that "we're not usually this slow." The restaurant was busy but not crazy busy. Our dinner took 2 1/2 hours without wine service. The desserts were amazing!

    This place is very delicious. Geographically this place has a lot going against it as it is a landlocked state. However, everything was very fresh tasting. The crab cakes were quite enjoyable as well. The spinach, crab, and artichoke was divine. When all was said I done I think we had eaten 4 orders of this. So whats the catch? Well the place was a little spendy for my taste. That being said, I suppose you get you pay for and what you get is fresh seafood.

    As is the case with other Market Street locations, this is a very nicely appointed building, with all the right menu options, cloth napkins, and stuffy wait staff wearing white aprons. All *should* be good to go...but...(yes, there's a big but)... I've still never found anything on the menu here that makes me want to keep going back. The fish, although they claim very fresh, is always too fishy (which...doesn't that mean it's really not all that fresh?), and frankly the fish I've tried hasn't been cooked or prepared that well. The non-fish choices are just as disappointing - they must assume the vast majority of patrons order fish, so they put relatively little effort into the other options. To be fair and specific, here's what I've tried and not liked: Crab Ravioli - Halibut Oscar - Seared Ahi Tuna (entree & appetizer) - Orange Roughy - French Dip Sandwich - Fish & Chips - Maryland Crab Cakes - Shrimp Cocktail...that's quite a list of disappointments for a touted local restaurant chain. If you're like me, and forced to eat here regularly for business (a.k.a. you are not paying the bill), here are the choices I've found that are *safe* to order: clam chowder (actually very tasty, and rightfully so for the $7 per bowl price tag), the Market Street Salad (greens, shrimp & crab which will set you back $23!!!). Bottom line - I only go here if I'm coerced by business associates. Not a good thing for any establishment.

    The best thing about this place is the fresh halibut (when they have it) and the Raspberry almond torte. We had the onion rings tonight & they really hit the spot! The sweet onions tasted really fresh. Their fries are really good too! Service can be good or bad, we've had both, but the kids meals are a great deal (even comes with Haagen Daz ice cream) and our kids love the place! It's where we go when we want a fairly nice meal but the kids are coming along. The kids meal grilled cheese is made with real cheese and not processed cheese product. We keep going back because it fits that niche for us!

    I have not had a bad meal here, and I have has a ton of good ones! When I take clients out this is often where I'll go (unless they are from the coast, cause you don't take someone from SF or Seattle to fish in Utah). Anyway, I have not found anywhere consistently better for seafood. It is always fresh. My only negative would be the service at times. I have gone and felt like they forgot about me. Once they gave away one of our plates, but didn't say anything until I asked if they'd given away the plate. I marked not good for kids because, 1) you spend too much time for inpatient kids, and 2) it's too expensive. Despite the spotty service, the food has always been good, so yeah, I am a fan!

    There was a day, many eons ago, that Market Street and its sister restaurants dominated the SLC restaurant scene. Oh, how times have changed. With strong competition across the valley from chef-driven restaurants, Market Street has become a dinosaur struggling to survive. My recent visit to the Market Street location in South Jordan has solidified my opinion that this is a restaurant well past its prime, producing food that pales in quality versus its myriad upstart competition. On this latest visit I decided to try the traditional no-brainer, fish and chips. No one could possibly screw that up. Market Street did its best. First off, the price is steep for this meal. $14 for two very small battered and fried pieces of cod, a surprisingly meager portion of french fries and a small cup of cole slaw. As mentioned, the fish pieces were small, and not that tasty. The meat inside was a tad overcooked. The fries were actually prepared very well, but so engulfed in salt that they were difficult to consume. The cole slaw was good, and the tartar sauce was quite tasty, but I didn't come for the condiments. I should mention that my sister, with whom I dined, ordered the grilled salmon, and it was practically inedible. The salmon flesh was rubbery, seemingly overcooked. It was bizarre. The server took it back and replaced it with a fresh piece. No word yet on whether it was worthy of consumption, she had to take it home. Regarding the clam chowder. It's simply not as great as people report. I find the broth to be overly thick and floury, certainly it doesn't stand up to some of the fine chowders I've had in the northeast. The clam pieces tend to be small and not very flavorful. The sourdough bread is decent, at least. No, I simply can't legitimately endorse this restaurant. It's terribly overpriced for food that simply isn't worthy of such exhorbitancy. This is your parents' (or perhaps their parents') restaurant. Let them "enjoy" it and dine elsewhere.

    I ate here September 15 dinner service. I came in with a large group. There was about 12 of us. We ordered drinks and appetizers first. We had calamari and shrimp cocktail. Both were awesome. I ordered grilled halibut and clam chowder. I was glad the server asked if I wanted it broiled on fire or fried. I asked for it to be broiled which I highly recommend. The service here is top notch. Much applause to the kind-of-tall blonde lady server with narrow eyes (sorry I forgot your name). She did an awesome job! By the way we were seated to left of the entrance by the left side.

    We always bring our clients here when they're in town. They have a wide selection of seafood and all drinks you want from the bar. Look out for their oysters special, you don't want to miss the prices! I love the energy of the staff and the restaurant setting. Nice place for a date or for entertaining guests from out of town.

    On our 32nd wedding anniversary we wanted to go out for a very special dinner. We wanted seafood and decided to go to Market Street Grill in South Jordan. Really it was a great choice! The waitress was wonderful! We got a huge platter 1 lb of gulf shrimp to share and then both had chowder and for our entrees we had lobster tail! The reason we keep coming back to this place is for the freshness of the seafood and the chowder! You pay more but to me it is worth it..... it is the absolute best chowder around! I can't really tell the difference between the lobster from here and the "other" place but the real difference is the fresh shrimp and the chowder! If you want the best come here! I also like the frequent diners club! It's worth it! Thanks for making our day special!

    I forgot to post my pictures, when I got my new cell phone they were lost. This place isn't as good as it used to be. We ordered the 1lb of cold shrimp, some calamari, clam chowder, and my wife ordered the gulf coast shrimp & scallops and I ordered the Parmesan crusted sole for our main courses. The only thing I could say that was good was the sourdough bread and butter. Not worth the high price for subpar food. Don't think I will be going back.

    By far the worst experience I have had to this day. I asked for ice tea with no lemon and Megan asked "just ice tea? Nothing in it? ". Yea that's what ice tea is without lemon... Just ice tea... Why would she try to make a big deal about it... I ordered asparagus got broccoli... Thanks sunshine. I'm allergic to broccoli nor can I eat anything that touched it and side note whispering and saying the "OTHER" server was to blame when you and her both brought our table was a bit much... Good way to throw somebody under the bus when it was your responsibility. The mash potatoes where rubbery and crusty from being under the heater. I asked for the salad and she yet again questioned me " are you sure you don't want dressing? She asked on the dessert order for 3 out of the 5 of us before one of our party was even finished with her meal then asked me and the other one still eating if we are going to share a dessert. And when I gave up waiting for my To go box...because she was getting another tables food our desserts. She came back and questioned why I didn't want to take it with... Hey Megan, if someone asked for something. Not the best idea to request ion them on the order making a big deal about it. You embarrassed me and upset my guest that was still eating that really did want dessert but because the way you treated us. We were done. Maybe be observant when I never touched the mashed potatoes, never touched the broccoli and only took 2 bites of the Tilapia that something was wrong. And sadly NEVER offered to get a manager.

    This is a great spot for a business lunch. The table spacing is great and the noise level low so conversations can be had. Also, I like the Oyster Bar next door for an after work drink. Finally, their pricing is more affordable than you might think.

    I've been here several times with my friend and we've always had a terrible experience with customer service or lack thereof. Today has sealed the deal and we don't plan on going back to this location for a VERY long time, if even, ever. We arrived at approximately 7:30. We were waiting to be seated and we were told it was gonna be about 25 minutes for 2 people and and one kid (5 years old). We decided to wait and noticed that not all the tables were filled. Weird. 5 minutes pass and the hostess asked if we wanted to sit at the oyster bar but since my friend brought her kid along we decided not to. 10 more minutes passed and we were ready to be seated. Seemed like 10-15 minutes until our waiter came by to even introduce himself and take our drink orders. Another 10-15 to bring out my sprite and bread then take our actual orders. My friend and I mainly came for the oysters since it was half off for Monday. We got half a dozen of oysters, (blue something I think), the oysters rockafeller, clam chowder and crab cakes to share. We also got a grilled cheese for the little one. It literally took 30 minutes for the clam chowder to come out. We finished and sat and talked for another good 15 minutes or so to get the rest of our food out. By this time, our chowder had settled and we didn't even want to eat anymore. But we managed to finish our food. The fresh oysters were the highlight of my night but definitely not worth waiting almost an hour for. I was getting a little worried that maybe we were getting such crappy service due to our ethnicity since we happened to be the only Asians amongst a whole restaurant full of Caucasians. Our waiter would come every half hour or so to apologize and tell us how "slammed" he was, noticing people that had been seated long before us barely getting their food just before we got ours as well. Which was slightly relieving, but not really. We were clearly finished with our food and our waiter asked if our child was ready for his ice cream, he brought it out and another 15 minutes or so brought our checks. FINALLY. We left at about 9:30 when we settled everything. Even if my intervals were off about how often the waiter helped us and bring us our food, TWO HOURS is REALLY ridiculous. "Ain't nobody got time for that." I'd be more understandable if the restaurant was more packed but they weren't so what was the big deal? This location needs MAJOR improvement on customer service. Food was good, a little too pricey for what you actually get. Overall, if you want all the time in the world to talk to your dinner date, with no food in the way, by all means come to this place. But if you're impatient at all. STEER CLEAR!

    i use to come here almost weekly from 2003-2009, but sadly their service started going downhill around 2010. i decided to give them another try and was pleasantly surprised. the service was actually really good and the food was delicious just like i use to remember it being! their seafood is really fresh and i love getting their halibut. all of their food is great and i ended with my usual sabayon dessert.

    We've been to market street grill many times before. My younger sister actually had her wedding at market Street at the Cottonwood location in which I helped paid for. I actually favored this place in the past. We came here for Mother's Day 2015. We were excited as most families would be to gather and enjoy great food on a holiday, I ordered the filet mignon with eggs Benedict, the food arrived after 50 min but it's expected on a holiday. The filet mignon I ordered was so rubbery I could not chew through it, also the eggs were separate from the muffin, eggs Benedict should be on top, plus the flavoring was bland. I did not touch the plate. Needless to say I informed the waiter David, he was an absolute gentleman and he offered to have the kitchen start a new plate. I politely declined the offer because I knew the time to reorder based on the delivery time of our present meal, it would not work out with the rest of my party finishing their meal. The waiter kindly removed my order off the bill. I wish it could've turned out better. Hopefully it was an isolated event. 1 star for the location and atmosphere and 1 extra star because the server did his part.

    I do not know why I keep going back to this location. The best part of their food is the Clam Chowder. With me I order a bowl of chowder, small plate of shrimps scampi and small plate of crab cake. I ask that she would wait between the chowder and the small plate, that did not happen. It took 5 min to bring me a straw and I am still waiting for the ice tea that never showed up. Here comes the small plate, one problem the crab cakes was a full order not the small plate. I told her I order a small plate (one crab cake). Now it took 10 min for it to show back up. When it did it was cold so it went back, this time the just heated it up and try to hide with a salad on the side. I cannot do lettuce do to the oral cancer. This time I asked for a manger, he took it away and brought a new one. With the salad on the side again, it was hot but the bottom of the crab cake was drowning in vinegar and oil. The manager was helpful but it seems I was interrupting him. The only one I would go to is the one in downtown salt lake.

    Excellent customer service! The free bread is quite tasty! For the main course I had the top sirloin with parsley boiled potatoes. Tasted good but was not as awesome as I expected for that price. I was going to order the king crab legs but $70 for 2 legs was not worth it when I could go to Harmons and get the same quality for a great deal less and all I have to do is steam them. This would have received 3 stars but the customer service was so amazing it pushed the rating to 4.

    Our family was celebrating some events Sunday 3-1-2015. We all met at Market Street to celebrate. Here is a list of my issues with this establishment based on our experience: The services was mediocre. The server did check back VERY EARLY into receiving our meals and then was never seen until it was dessert time. My daughter would have liked more dressing for her very DRY Caesar salad with Blacken chicken. This restaurant opens at 4 p.m. on Sunday afternoon and our reservation was at 5 p.m. They were OUT of Prime Rib at 5 p.m. and some nonsense/lame reason was given for it. We expressed our disappointment to the server and the manager and considered paying for our wine and leaving (I wish we had made that choice!) There was a miscommunication on a substitute order of au gratin potatoes in place of parsley potatoes, rice or vegetables. We were charged extra for the au gratin and that was not mentioned at the time of ordering The vegetables (green and yellow squash were over cooked, over steamed and tasteless). Hint: When serving boiled squash, plate it in a bowl placed on the plate to contain all the water. I had squash water floating under my salmon. YUM! All in all it will be a very long time before I visit Market Street again. The menu is pricey and I must say the food, the serve and the experience was NOT worth it. Management didn't seem to care. It's too bad that a restaurant which once had a good reputation believes they can charge $30.00 a plate and deliver a mediocre expereince

    We made reservations and were sat immediately. We waited a substantial amount of time for drinks. Our entree order wasn't taken until after our appetizer (not good) was half-way eaten. At one point my husband had neither water nor soda - and a manager even walked by without fixing that problem. My husband ordered the fisherman's platter, which comes with scallops that we never received. When we asked about it, the waiter said they didn't carry them anymore... Supplier... Blah blah. But this wasn't told to us upon our ordering the dish, nor at it's delivery. They just tried to act like everything was fine. The waiter said they threw in a couple extra shrimp (we had five or six on the plate). They ended up giving my husband free chocolate cake to go. The clam chowder was good. For the $120 (without cocktails) we threw down, we will give our business to someone else.

    It's too bad you have to give one star. If I could give zero I would have. Have you ever ordered an entree let's say a platter that has scallops because you like scallops. Then when it comes out there are no scallops. NONE. Then to top it off, the waiter knew I wasn't going to get scallops but didn't tell me! 120 dollars is quite steep to not get what you ordered. I won't even get into waiting for drinks. Safe to say I will not spend my money there again.

    I've been to several of the Market Street Grill locations, some many times including the down town one, since I have family members that really do enjoy the chain. For me though, it is somewhere that has an identity crisis. I certainly don't dislike it, in fact I'd not discourage anyone from trying it, and when I do go I generally do enjoy the experience - it's just not somewhere I would personally choose as my destination of choice for a formal occasion. All locations have good ambiance and internal decoration and this one in particular has a definite East coast fishing town feel to it. I love that. But it also sometimes feels like you are a guest at an English mansion house with the well adorned Butler like service. There's nothing wrong with that either per say - in fact those that know me well would understand why I might even enjoy that. However, try to mix those and it just seems a little odd. The service and attentiveness of the servers at any Market Street is great. They can bring coffee and cinnamon rolls at a faster rate than I can even keep up with, if there is ever an issue with any order, they fix it with no question. Most of the staff do seem to be well grounded in the art of service, and why I do begrudgingly enjoy these restaurants. However, the food for me is totally 3 star and why it never truly excites me personally. I'll certainly always happily go to any of their locations if that's the destination of choice for an occasion, I just wouldn't pick it as my choice when it's an occasion I get to pick the destination for :)

    If I could give less than 1 star I would. 180.00 for two however food and service was comparable to Chilis. Everything was greasy and over done. Service slow and the waiter actually said burnt food gives it flavor. Not worth the hype. Special night not so special dining.

    The food was good. The oysters were my favorite part. I like the Kusshi oysters the best. I'll skip on calamari next time. I had the Mexican Sea Bass. I liked the fish, but as a dish it needed more seasoning. Service was good. A little pricy for a 3 star restaurant.

    We are here tonight for my birthday and it was the worst service we've had in a very long time. We ordered the filet and crab and it was cold. The salad had two tiny tomatoes and two slices of a cucumber. Our waitress had a bad attitude from the beginning of our dinner. We were expecting high quality crab and it had very little meat and had to work extremely hard to get it. We will NEVER eat there again! I am extremely disappointed.

    I've always enjoyed Market Street and have had some of the best Eggs Benedict in breakfast land here. Today I went for lunch and was expecting, in Market Street fashion, to sell off a kidney to eat here (dinners tend to be on the expensive side.) 6 bucks. I got out for 6 bucks. Now, granted, I didn't have the cavier lunch special for $75 (my question is, Who is stuffy enough to order that? Really?) I really didn't order anything from the menu. What I DID order deserves its own paragraph. Have you ever had Clam Chowder so awesome you wanted the recipe? That's what they have at the MS. It comes in a large portion and is served with all of the fresh baked french bread you can eat it with. I actually didn't even touch my spoon. With a drink my total was under $6. Clam- Tastic!! Oh, and for the record, you can find the recipe for their chowder on their website. I've tried it. It isn't the exact recipe but close enough to make at home in your PJs and enjoy. I should also mention their are several sandwich / soup or salad / soup options to choose from under the $10 price point. You'll get to experience a fine(r) dining establishment at a price that lets you keep all of your organs.

    the service here is fantastic! the orange rolls were not as fresh as I remembered but still good. the eggs Benedict with marketstreet potatoes was delicious! I even tried some of the seared tuna and it melted in my mouth.... and I am not a fish person. only downer was no alcohol until 11:30am. I really wanted a bloody Mary.

    Ah, Market Street Grill. This will have been my 3rd time going. Each time would mean a dent in the wallet.... Luckily, this was a company lunch and the boss was paying :) When I think Market Street, I think fresh meats. That's the experience I got each time I went. This time, I decided to go with the White Ivory Salmon, served Oscar Style. The cost of the plate was about $33.00. The portion was good and definitely filled me up. It came with the fresh salmon, rice, and fries. The Oscar Style accompanied the salon with asparagus, crab cake, and bearnaise sauce. Rice was good, and fries were crunchy. Great sides! Service was okay. We had a party of about 11 and the food was brought out in a timely manner. Waiters would constantly fill our drinks and were very knowledgeable about the foods they served. On other occasions I went, the portions weren't big, but the cost was! But, I guess you know you'll be getting fresh meats and good service.

    Market Street has always been my favorite place to eat. I frequently take customers and family to the various restaurants here in the Salt Lake area. In the 10 years I have been enjoying their food, I have never had a bad meal or experience at one of their restaurants, ever. Regrettably I cannot say that after today. .. Here's the summary: Restaurant - The one off of 106th Meal/Menu- Sunday Brunch at 2:00 pm (First Time for me eating off the Brunch Menu...) Food ordered - Chicken Fried New York Steak with eggs, sunny side for me. My wife got the Market Street Omelet. Issues: - Chicken Fried Steak - Egg whites not cooked, Chicken Fried steak was soggy, with the coating appearing to not be cooked through. Funny taste as well. Just not good. - Market Street Omelet - Filling was tasteless, like if came from a jar. The omelets texture was off as well. All in all, neither my wife or I finished our meals. Truly bad food and a total shock for us to encounter at this chain. We truly have come to expect more from Market Street. Will I go back? Yes, in a heart beat, for Lunches or Dinners that is, they kick butt on them. Never again for Brunch though, it is outside of their area of experitise.

    The place is a little over priced, but if you want some good seafood in Utah it's really one of only a few options. The chowder is wonderful, the steaks are good... but the seafood is very well done. The service is much better than other restaurants & the restaurant is bright and welcoming. Again, it's a little pricy, but worth it if you have a craving for halibut, salmon, crab & lobster. I also like this location much better than the downtown location. Fresher & cleaner for sure,,, but it does lack the downtown vibe

    I have been a regular at the Market Street Grill since about 1998. My father considers it to be his favorite place. It has saddened me greatly to watch the service and experience go downhill consistently over the last several years. Food is good. It was great but it seems to have gone downhill along with the service. It may be the same, but with bad service the food just doesn't feel the same. The service is really atrocious. Never have I paid so much for such hostile and crummy service. A few months ago we even had to ask for a new server because ours was so openly hostile to us. While we were assigned someone better, the management did nothing to apologize or make the bad experience better. My advice is avoid Market Street Grill and go pretty much anywhere else.

    We made reservations and were sat immediately. We waited a substantial amount of time for drinks. Our entree order wasn't taken until after our appetizer (not good) was half-way eaten. At one point my husband had neither water nor soda - and a manager even walked by without fixing that problem. My husband ordered the fisherman's platter, which comes with scallops that we never received. When we asked about it, the waiter said they didn't carry them anymore... Supplier... Blah blah. But this wasn't told to us upon our ordering the dish, nor at it's delivery. They just tried to act like everything was fine. The waiter said they threw in a couple extra shrimp (we had five or six on the plate). They ended up giving my husband free chocolate cake to go. The clam chowder was good. For the $120 (without cocktails) we threw down, we will give our business to someone else.

    Love this place sometimes and then the next time I hate it. It really just depends on what you order. Their steak is great, but their salmon is lacking. Go during lunch because it is a lot cheaper than dinner.

    It's too bad you have to give one star. If I could give zero I would have. Have you ever ordered an entree let's say a platter that has scallops because you like scallops. Then when it comes out there are no scallops. NONE. Then to top it off, the waiter knew I wasn't going to get scallops but didn't tell me! 120 dollars is quite steep to not get what you ordered. I won't even get into waiting for drinks. Safe to say I will not spend my money there again.

    Food is extremely fresh and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend coming here. Having eaten here many times .over 2 weeks, it is hard to imagine that everything we ate was great, but it was. The service has been wonderful... Come here if you're in the salt lake city area.. Don't miss it.

    So your staying at home 2 suites your tired just got off the plane, checked in to the hotel., etc. It's close you can walk how bad can it be? It's bad! Hire a limo, helicopter, sled dogs, whatever, but find some where else to eat. Your taste buds will thank you and other parts of your anatomy will thank you. Heed my warning! Run.

    Very cool decor since the remodel. The hostess seemed preoccupied and was devoid of personality when informing us that our table wouldn't be ready until our reservation time. (We arrived about 10 minutes early.) Our server was very personable and did a fantastic job of taking care of us. The sour dough bread is outstanding as are the onion rings and crab and artichoke dip. The mashed potatoes were very tasty. That's where the good stopped though. Two of our group of 7 ordered the stuffed tilapia but they ran out of that. The crab cakes were bland and served with tarter sauce. Who does that? The salmon was over cooked and fishy, and the steaks, while tender and flavorful, were both cooked blood rare despite being ordered medium and medium rare. The highly-touted clam chowder was mediocre at best and almost entirely devoid of clams. Everything seems to be priced about $5-$10 more than what feels reasonable especially considering that we were eating the same types of things on Grand Cayman just a week ago and the prices on the island were cheaper. The kitchen was incredibly slow between courses and the server acknowledged that "we're not usually this slow." The restaurant was busy but not crazy busy. Our dinner took 2 1/2 hours without wine service. The desserts were amazing!

    I've always enjoyed Market Street and have had some of the best Eggs Benedict in breakfast land here. Today I went for lunch and was expecting, in Market Street fashion, to sell off a kidney to eat here (dinners tend to be on the expensive side.) 6 bucks. I got out for 6 bucks. Now, granted, I didn't have the cavier lunch special for $75 (my question is, Who is stuffy enough to order that? Really?) I really didn't order anything from the menu. What I DID order deserves its own paragraph. Have you ever had Clam Chowder so awesome you wanted the recipe? That's what they have at the MS. It comes in a large portion and is served with all of the fresh baked french bread you can eat it with. I actually didn't even touch my spoon. With a drink my total was under $6. Clam- Tastic!! Oh, and for the record, you can find the recipe for their chowder on their website. I've tried it. It isn't the exact recipe but close enough to make at home in your PJs and enjoy. I should also mention their are several sandwich / soup or salad / soup options to choose from under the $10 price point. You'll get to experience a fine(r) dining establishment at a price that lets you keep all of your organs.

    Ah, Market Street Grill. This will have been my 3rd time going. Each time would mean a dent in the wallet.... Luckily, this was a company lunch and the boss was paying :) When I think Market Street, I think fresh meats. That's the experience I got each time I went. This time, I decided to go with the White Ivory Salmon, served Oscar Style. The cost of the plate was about $33.00. The portion was good and definitely filled me up. It came with the fresh salmon, rice, and fries. The Oscar Style accompanied the salon with asparagus, crab cake, and bearnaise sauce. Rice was good, and fries were crunchy. Great sides! Service was okay. We had a party of about 11 and the food was brought out in a timely manner. Waiters would constantly fill our drinks and were very knowledgeable about the foods they served. On other occasions I went, the portions weren't big, but the cost was! But, I guess you know you'll be getting fresh meats and good service.

    This place is very delicious. Geographically this place has a lot going against it as it is a landlocked state. However, everything was very fresh tasting. The crab cakes were quite enjoyable as well. The spinach, crab, and artichoke was divine. When all was said I done I think we had eaten 4 orders of this. So whats the catch? Well the place was a little spendy for my taste. That being said, I suppose you get you pay for and what you get is fresh seafood.

    the service here is fantastic! the orange rolls were not as fresh as I remembered but still good. the eggs Benedict with marketstreet potatoes was delicious! I even tried some of the seared tuna and it melted in my mouth.... and I am not a fish person. only downer was no alcohol until 11:30am. I really wanted a bloody Mary.

    Market Street has always been my favorite place to eat. I frequently take customers and family to the various restaurants here in the Salt Lake area. In the 10 years I have been enjoying their food, I have never had a bad meal or experience at one of their restaurants, ever. Regrettably I cannot say that after today. .. Here's the summary: Restaurant - The one off of 106th Meal/Menu- Sunday Brunch at 2:00 pm (First Time for me eating off the Brunch Menu...) Food ordered - Chicken Fried New York Steak with eggs, sunny side for me. My wife got the Market Street Omelet. Issues: - Chicken Fried Steak - Egg whites not cooked, Chicken Fried steak was soggy, with the coating appearing to not be cooked through. Funny taste as well. Just not good. - Market Street Omelet - Filling was tasteless, like if came from a jar. The omelets texture was off as well. All in all, neither my wife or I finished our meals. Truly bad food and a total shock for us to encounter at this chain. We truly have come to expect more from Market Street. Will I go back? Yes, in a heart beat, for Lunches or Dinners that is, they kick butt on them. Never again for Brunch though, it is outside of their area of experitise.

    The place is a little over priced, but if you want some good seafood in Utah it's really one of only a few options. The chowder is wonderful, the steaks are good... but the seafood is very well done. The service is much better than other restaurants & the restaurant is bright and welcoming. Again, it's a little pricy, but worth it if you have a craving for halibut, salmon, crab & lobster. I also like this location much better than the downtown location. Fresher & cleaner for sure,,, but it does lack the downtown vibe

    I have been a regular at the Market Street Grill since about 1998. My father considers it to be his favorite place. It has saddened me greatly to watch the service and experience go downhill consistently over the last several years. Food is good. It was great but it seems to have gone downhill along with the service. It may be the same, but with bad service the food just doesn't feel the same. The service is really atrocious. Never have I paid so much for such hostile and crummy service. A few months ago we even had to ask for a new server because ours was so openly hostile to us. While we were assigned someone better, the management did nothing to apologize or make the bad experience better. My advice is avoid Market Street Grill and go pretty much anywhere else.

    I've loved various Gastronomy restaurants my whole life, but service and execution at this location at brunch a few weeks ago left a lot to be desired. In all fairness, our server was in training, but still. We waited five minutes before any server even noticed we'd been seated (and a while after that before he found our server for us) and our appetizer cups of clam chowder arrived as bowls with our entrees-- we didn't even have room on the table for it. Service was crazy slow and we had to ask for cinnamon rolls. Our drinks, screwdrivers, bloody marys and greyhounds, were unfortunately weak, but the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control might be to blame in that area. On the bright side, the brunch food was great. I had the seared ahi-- the soy ginger sauce was amazing and the tuna was cooked rare perfectly. My fiancé enjoyed his New York steak and eggs. I don't remember what my dad had, but he liked it. My mom had the halibut and said it was cooked well, but was served cold. The cinnamon roll and sourdough bread were great as always. The broiled tomato is a good choice and makes you feel slightly better about gorging on brunch, but the breakfast potatoes are fantastic. I'm hoping this was an anomaly because I'd love to go back.

    Love going to Market Street Grill. It is always a special treat. It is definitely on the high end side. It is worth it though. The food is always delicious. My favorites have been the Salmon with crab, asparagus and a creamy sauce on top, and the ahi tuna steak. Everything is always cooked to perfection. The vegetable sides are always fresh and in season. Most recently it was the brussel sprouts, cooked perfectly. I have never loved brussel sprouts more in my life. The potatoes are great in all forms, mashed, au gratin, and fries. The waiters are always attentive and knowledgeable. They give great wine pairing for each portion of the meal. When I ordered the traditional stuffed salmon the waiter told me that I should not get the stuffed salmon from the menu and go with the crab, asparagus salmon. I appreciate a waiter that is not afraid to tell you that you may be making mistake. Always get the clam chowder!! It is the best that I have had anywhere!!

    I feel like Market Street Grill is like The Emperor's New Clothes of restaurants. People flock to the restaurant and pay hefty prices for terrible food. I've been to three different locations for others' birthdays and every time, every location serves food that tastes premade, frozen, thawed, and reheated. The appetizers, fish, and desserts have all tasted prepackaged and mediocre at best. Don't waste your money! Honestly, they have better fish at Costco in the frozen food section.

    As is the case with other Market Street locations, this is a very nicely appointed building, with all the right menu options, cloth napkins, and stuffy wait staff wearing white aprons. All *should* be good to go...but...(yes, there's a big but)... I've still never found anything on the menu here that makes me want to keep going back. The fish, although they claim very fresh, is always too fishy (which...doesn't that mean it's really not all that fresh?), and frankly the fish I've tried hasn't been cooked or prepared that well. The non-fish choices are just as disappointing - they must assume the vast majority of patrons order fish, so they put relatively little effort into the other options. To be fair and specific, here's what I've tried and not liked: Crab Ravioli - Halibut Oscar - Seared Ahi Tuna (entree & appetizer) - Orange Roughy - French Dip Sandwich - Fish & Chips - Maryland Crab Cakes - Shrimp Cocktail...that's quite a list of disappointments for a touted local restaurant chain. If you're like me, and forced to eat here regularly for business (a.k.a. you are not paying the bill), here are the choices I've found that are *safe* to order: clam chowder (actually very tasty, and rightfully so for the $7 per bowl price tag), the Market Street Salad (greens, shrimp & crab which will set you back $23!!!). Bottom line - I only go here if I'm coerced by business associates. Not a good thing for any establishment.

    The best thing about this place is the fresh halibut (when they have it) and the Raspberry almond torte. We had the onion rings tonight & they really hit the spot! The sweet onions tasted really fresh. Their fries are really good too! Service can be good or bad, we've had both, but the kids meals are a great deal (even comes with Haagen Daz ice cream) and our kids love the place! It's where we go when we want a fairly nice meal but the kids are coming along. The kids meal grilled cheese is made with real cheese and not processed cheese product. We keep going back because it fits that niche for us!

    I have not had a bad meal here, and I have has a ton of good ones! When I take clients out this is often where I'll go (unless they are from the coast, cause you don't take someone from SF or Seattle to fish in Utah). Anyway, I have not found anywhere consistently better for seafood. It is always fresh. My only negative would be the service at times. I have gone and felt like they forgot about me. Once they gave away one of our plates, but didn't say anything until I asked if they'd given away the plate. I marked not good for kids because, 1) you spend too much time for inpatient kids, and 2) it's too expensive. Despite the spotty service, the food has always been good, so yeah, I am a fan!

    Went for Sunday brunch, the prices were very reasonable. I got an omelet and it was delicious. My husband got eggs benedict which came with their potatoes. Well, there was cheese cooked in them. He is allergic to cheese. He asked for some without and the server said they don't have any. What made me irritated was for "Market Street" he didn't even offer any kind of replacement. He was very short with us. Then later trying to make up for it so he could get a decent tip he tried talking to us but by then it was just annoying. Wish I had his name. It was on the Oyster Bar side. We were at IHOP the week before out of town and we got WAY better service. I realize it was just this one kid but maybe the restaurant really didn't have regular potatoes - which means they're pre-made? For a nice place, that makes me question.

    I have such a hard time with this place. The food is fantastic, but is it worth super slow service and rude servers? We usually go with a group of 7 and it takes at least 2 hours to finish our meal. Which would be fine except usually the first 1/2 hour is just waiting. They try to make it fine dining but it just doesn't cut it. I have eaten here regularly for almost 7 years and each year the service gets worse. Now that I try to take young children it is horrible. Often times we have servers try to completely ignore my kids and their orders altogether even though they eat fish and love coming! I will say their desserts are awesome.

    I've had lunch here three times and the food is always fantastic. It's the food that kept me coming back. The problem is the amateurish service. They really need to hire some experienced fine dining servers or get some sort of training program going for the current staff. I won't be returning a fourth time.

    My favorite thing about my visit today was that when I asked for any off-the-menu vegetarian options, the waitress suggested a vegetable alfredo pasta, which was delicious. It had big chunks of asparagus, artichoke hearts, green onions and mushrooms and the best vegetarian pasta dish I've had for a while. Also, when I asked to switch my salad for some fries (they really are that delicious) she was accommodating. As other reviews have stated, it really is pricey, but apparently not enough to keep away people. We were one of the first customers through the door and the dining room was full by the time we left.

    I tried the local Utah Trout I believe. It was rather forgettable. I should have opted for their seafood cobb, that looked a lot better. The service was awesome! I ordered an ice tea, and I already got a refill before I was half way done with it.

    I have eaten at Market Street several times since it has opened and the food has been great. Recently I went for brunch on a Sunday and the service was HORRIBLE. We had a reservation, but it still took an hour to get us seated. Once we were seated it took over an hour for the food. The waitress acted like she was doing us a favor by serving us. Sad to see a restaurant with such great food have such horrible service. I dont think you will see me here anytime soon if at all.

    PASS THIS PLACE UP! MARGINAL FOOD AT HIGH PRICES. POOR OVERALL EXPERIENCE! We were looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate our daughter's graduation. I was recommended to Market St. Grill by a friend who lives in Utah (she did recommended the Salt Lake restaurant, but we choose South Jordan for location). I looked up their menu on line and decided it fit our needs. That was my first mistake. The on-line menu is incorrect. We arrived and our table for 14 was set up and it looked like a good start. That was the end of that feeling. Our party of 14 began to order. With three vegetarians in the group, I was confident due to the pasta dish on their on-line menu. We were informed that it was no longer available. Worse than that, they were completely UN-accommodating in trying to solve the problem. They said they couldn't make a grill cheese sandwich (the restaurant serves bread and dishes with cheese), all other suggestions were shot down for a vegetarian choice and nothing was offered. We ordered two large platters of shrimp for appetizers. They were fishy and watery. I asked for a Caesar salad with grilled prawns and they acted like they had never heard of such a thing! The prawns were substandard and overcooked. For a seafood restaurant, their seafood is VERY substandard. Every person in our party commented after they would not return. We wanted to go to a local place, but would have been better off had we gone to California Pizza Kitchen, as we did the evening before. Although it's a chain, the food and overall experience is much better. While the servers were cheerful, one flirted relentlessly with one of the young ladies in our party, and made her very uncomfortable. PASS this place up. Pricey for poor quality food and unaccommodating service. It was a big disappointment for an important celebration.

    I wouldn't expect to have great seafood in UT. Market Street was really good. The oysters were fresh and large. The clam chowder was creamy and peppery. The ahi tuna was good. My first serving, I had to send back, because the tuna was overcooked. The waitress was very understanding by kindly taking back the tuna and giving me another cut. I am willing to go back here.

    Don't get it, don't get it, don't get it. I'm sure your thinking. . . "I wonder if this guy gets it?" For clarity, let me just say that I don't get it. I have ordered a number of their dishes over a number of visits, always seafood (as that seems the logical choice from a seafood restaurant) and beyond the crab during their crab event nothing has impressed me. Which stinks considering the pricing. Service staff always feels a little stiff and less than friendly.

    I want you to imagine your wedding day. Ok now imagine that youre the groom. If youre a chick, its totally fine. Just roll with it. The stage is set. You've got all your friends and family around. Your wife's parents didn't have a budget and even hired J Lo to be the wedding planner. The day is perfect. First comes the flower girl, now, instead of dropping flowers, she is dropping lettuce that just took a bath in caesar dressing. Each time she drops a "flower" she is dropping a slice of the most crisp, delicious mouth watering piece of lettuce you can imagine. The pieces migrate to your plate to form a most amazing caesar salad that have ever danced on your tongue. Next the ring bearer comes. This chubby dimply cheeked boy comes down with a designer pillow and when he gets to you, you untie what would be the rings but instead, this little guy came bearing bread and a scumptious serving of clam chowder. Is that the red or the white? It was the white. This amazing heap of carbs is putting your marriage in question. You've found yourself debating do I marry my fiancé or this gorgeous loaf of love and his sister clam? Next, you hear it, you feel your heart start to pound, the music starts. Elton John begins to play the brides march. You can almost see it, growing with anticipation, you heart beats faster and faster, you want to see it so bad, slowly the bride makes her way down the aisle. Coworkers, friends, and family are astonished at her beauty. Finally she gets to you. You extend both arms and begin to lift the brides veil. You lift slowly until finally it's off. BOOM. Lightly crusted halibut oscar with crab & asparagus up on its roof top like old saint nick. SLAM! Your wedding and Christmas just happened. You have never seen anything so beautiful in your life. You take mental pictures and will remember this day for the rest of your life.

    I either went on a really good night for steaks or the other people reviewing are smoking something..... I had the Filet and it was cooked to perfection. The potatoes were amazing and the clam chowder soup was in the top 2 I have ever had. We also had some jumbo shrimp for appetizers ... they were pretty good, and I am not a huge fan of shrimp that is not battered and dipped in coconut .... Again, after eating a Filet at Ruth Chris its hard to give any place 5 stars, but this was very worthy of 4 stars and a visit back. All in our group seemed to enjoy what they got and the service was good. I guess we went on a good night!

    There was a day, many eons ago, that Market Street and its sister restaurants dominated the SLC restaurant scene. Oh, how times have changed. With strong competition across the valley from chef-driven restaurants, Market Street has become a dinosaur struggling to survive. My recent visit to the Market Street location in South Jordan has solidified my opinion that this is a restaurant well past its prime, producing food that pales in quality versus its myriad upstart competition. On this latest visit I decided to try the traditional no-brainer, fish and chips. No one could possibly screw that up. Market Street did its best. First off, the price is steep for this meal. $14 for two very small battered and fried pieces of cod, a surprisingly meager portion of french fries and a small cup of cole slaw. As mentioned, the fish pieces were small, and not that tasty. The meat inside was a tad overcooked. The fries were actually prepared very well, but so engulfed in salt that they were difficult to consume. The cole slaw was good, and the tartar sauce was quite tasty, but I didn't come for the condiments. I should mention that my sister, with whom I dined, ordered the grilled salmon, and it was practically inedible. The salmon flesh was rubbery, seemingly overcooked. It was bizarre. The server took it back and replaced it with a fresh piece. No word yet on whether it was worthy of consumption, she had to take it home. Regarding the clam chowder. It's simply not as great as people report. I find the broth to be overly thick and floury, certainly it doesn't stand up to some of the fine chowders I've had in the northeast. The clam pieces tend to be small and not very flavorful. The sourdough bread is decent, at least. No, I simply can't legitimately endorse this restaurant. It's terribly overpriced for food that simply isn't worthy of such exhorbitancy. This is your parents' (or perhaps their parents') restaurant. Let them "enjoy" it and dine elsewhere.

    I ate here September 15 dinner service. I came in with a large group. There was about 12 of us. We ordered drinks and appetizers first. We had calamari and shrimp cocktail. Both were awesome. I ordered grilled halibut and clam chowder. I was glad the server asked if I wanted it broiled on fire or fried. I asked for it to be broiled which I highly recommend. The service here is top notch. Much applause to the kind-of-tall blonde lady server with narrow eyes (sorry I forgot your name). She did an awesome job! By the way we were seated to left of the entrance by the left side.

    We always bring our clients here when they're in town. They have a wide selection of seafood and all drinks you want from the bar. Look out for their oysters special, you don't want to miss the prices! I love the energy of the staff and the restaurant setting. Nice place for a date or for entertaining guests from out of town.

    On our 32nd wedding anniversary we wanted to go out for a very special dinner. We wanted seafood and decided to go to Market Street Grill in South Jordan. Really it was a great choice! The waitress was wonderful! We got a huge platter 1 lb of gulf shrimp to share and then both had chowder and for our entrees we had lobster tail! The reason we keep coming back to this place is for the freshness of the seafood and the chowder! You pay more but to me it is worth it..... it is the absolute best chowder around! I can't really tell the difference between the lobster from here and the "other" place but the real difference is the fresh shrimp and the chowder! If you want the best come here! I also like the frequent diners club! It's worth it! Thanks for making our day special!

    I forgot to post my pictures, when I got my new cell phone they were lost. This place isn't as good as it used to be. We ordered the 1lb of cold shrimp, some calamari, clam chowder, and my wife ordered the gulf coast shrimp & scallops and I ordered the Parmesan crusted sole for our main courses. The only thing I could say that was good was the sourdough bread and butter. Not worth the high price for subpar food. Don't think I will be going back.

    By far the worst experience I have had to this day. I asked for ice tea with no lemon and Megan asked "just ice tea? Nothing in it? ". Yea that's what ice tea is without lemon... Just ice tea... Why would she try to make a big deal about it... I ordered asparagus got broccoli... Thanks sunshine. I'm allergic to broccoli nor can I eat anything that touched it and side note whispering and saying the "OTHER" server was to blame when you and her both brought our table was a bit much... Good way to throw somebody under the bus when it was your responsibility. The mash potatoes where rubbery and crusty from being under the heater. I asked for the salad and she yet again questioned me " are you sure you don't want dressing? She asked on the dessert order for 3 out of the 5 of us before one of our party was even finished with her meal then asked me and the other one still eating if we are going to share a dessert. And when I gave up waiting for my To go box...because she was getting another tables food our desserts. She came back and questioned why I didn't want to take it with... Hey Megan, if someone asked for something. Not the best idea to request ion them on the order making a big deal about it. You embarrassed me and upset my guest that was still eating that really did want dessert but because the way you treated us. We were done.     I've been here several times with my friend and we've always had a terrible experience with customer service or lack thereof. Today has sealed the deal and we don't plan on going back to this location for a VERY long time, if even, ever. We arrived at approximately 7:30. We were waiting to be seated and we were told it was gonna be about 25 minutes for 2 people and and one kid (5 years old). We decided to wait and noticed that not all the tables were filled. Weird. 5 minutes pass and the hostess asked if we wanted to sit at the oyster bar but since my friend brought her kid along we decided not to. 10 more minutes passed and we were ready to be seated. Seemed like 10-15 minutes until our waiter came by to even introduce himself and take our drink orders. Another 10-15 to bring out my sprite and bread then take our actual orders. My friend and I mainly came for the oysters since it was half off for Monday. We got half a dozen of oysters, (blue something I think), the oysters rockafeller, clam chowder and crab cakes to share. We also got a grilled cheese for the little one. It literally took 30 minutes for the clam chowder to come out. We finished and sat and talked for another good 15 minutes or so to get the rest of our food out. By this time, our chowder had settled and we didn't even want to eat anymore. But we managed to finish our food. The fresh oysters were the highlight of my night but definitely not worth waiting almost an hour for. I was getting a little worried that maybe we were getting such crappy service due to our ethnicity since we happened to be the only Asians amongst a whole restaurant full of Caucasians. Our waiter would come every half hour or so to apologize and tell us how "slammed" he was, noticing people that had been seated long before us barely getting their food just before we got ours as well. Which was slightly relieving, but not really. We were clearly finished with our food and our waiter asked if our child was ready for his ice cream, he brought it out and another 15 minutes or so brought our checks. FINALLY. We left at about 9:30 when we settled everything. Even if my intervals were off about how often the waiter helped us and bring us our food, TWO HOURS is REALLY ridiculous. "Ain't nobody got time for that." I'd be more understandable if the restaurant was more packed but they weren't so what was the big deal? This location needs MAJOR improvement on customer service. Food was good, a little too pricey for what you actually get. Overall, if you want all the time in the world to talk to your dinner date, with no food in the way, by all means come to this place. But if you're impatient at all. STEER CLEAR!

    i use to come here almost weekly from 2003-2009, but sadly their service started going downhill around 2010. i decided to give them another try and was pleasantly surprised. the service was actually really good and the food was delicious just like i use to remember it being! their seafood is really fresh and i love getting their halibut. all of their food is great and i ended with my usual sabayon dessert.

    Place is pretty good. The planked salmon is great. Best clam chowder out there. Dinner is a bit expensive for the amount of food you get. Service is good and the place is clean. Needs to be updated because you can tell furniture is old and dated. I would say make this the place your 2nd choice. For the price I would expect better food and an updated establishment. Unless your trying to impress your date or co workers by dropping $100 for dinner go somewhere cheaper with better food. Jason has been the best waiter we have had so far.

    I think this all depends on who's in the kitchen. We've had good experiences where the fish was cooked and flavored well, but more times it hasn't been. Very inconsistent. Love the decor and atmosphere. Service has always been fine.

    Yeah--they have four-cheese ravioli on the menu again!! Their vendor went out of business so they make their own now. I thought the sauce used to be a creamy marinara but our server said it is the same. The $16 small lunch special only came with two pieces of garlic bread, so I ordered a house salad--always great. The halibut with hollandaise sauce was just okay. Nice cheesy potatoes and fresh broccoli. My daughter ordered their delicious clam chowder with her entree. Their best dessert is probably the raspberry almond sponge cake. Yum. But $70 for lunch with no drinks? Yikes!!

    The clam chower and sour dough bread are amazingly good. We also enjoyed their crab capresie (sp?) salad that was wonderful. The tuna sandwich was barely OK though, It had a big slice of tomato. But tomato in March tastes like a golf ball, which made the entire sandwich taste like a golf ball. I think in the winter they should try something else to liven up the sandwich.

    We've been to market street grill many times before. My younger sister actually had her wedding at market Street at the Cottonwood location in which I helped paid for. I actually favored this place in the past. We came here for Mother's Day 2015. We were excited as most families would be to gather and enjoy great food on a holiday, I ordered the filet mignon with eggs Benedict, the food arrived after 50 min but it's expected on a holiday. The filet mignon I ordered was so rubbery I could not chew through it, also the eggs were separate from the muffin, eggs Benedict should be on top, plus the flavoring was bland. I did not touch the plate. Needless to say I informed the waiter David, he was an absolute gentleman and he offered to have the kitchen start a new plate. I politely declined the offer because I knew the time to reorder based on the delivery time of our present meal, it would not work out with the rest of my party finishing their meal. The waiter kindly removed my order off the bill. I wish it could've turned out better. Hopefully it was an isolated event. 1 star for the location and atmosphere and 1 extra star because the server did his part.

    This place is very delicious. Geographically this place has a lot going against it as it is a landlocked state. However, everything was very fresh tasting. The crab cakes were quite enjoyable as well. The spinach, crab, and artichoke was divine. When all was said I done I think we had eaten 4 orders of this. So whats the catch? Well the place was a little spendy for my taste. That being said, I suppose you get you pay for and what you get is fresh seafood.

    I do not know why I keep going back to this location. The best part of their food is the Clam Chowder. With me I order a bowl of chowder, small plate of shrimps scampi and small plate of crab cake. I ask that she would wait between the chowder and the small plate, that did not happen. It took 5 min to bring me a straw and I am still waiting for the ice tea that never showed up. Here comes the small plate, one problem the crab cakes was a full order not the small plate. I told her I order a small plate (one crab cake). Now it took 10 min for it to show back up. When it did it was cold so it went back, this time the just heated it up and try to hide with a salad on the side. I cannot do lettuce do to the oral cancer. This time I asked for a manger, he took it away and brought a new one. With the salad on the side again, it was hot but the bottom of the crab cake was drowning in vinegar and oil. The manager was helpful but it seems I was interrupting him. The only one I would go to is the one in downtown salt lake.

    Excellent customer service! The free bread is quite tasty! For the main course I had the top sirloin with parsley boiled potatoes. Tasted good but was not as awesome as I expected for that price. I was going to order the king crab legs but $70 for 2 legs was not worth it when I could go to Harmons and get the same quality for a great deal less and all I have to do is steam them. This would have received 3 stars but the customer service was so amazing it pushed the rating to 4.

    Our family was celebrating some events Sunday 3-1-2015. We all met at Market Street to celebrate. Here is a list of my issues with this establishment based on our experience: The services was mediocre. The server did check back VERY EARLY into receiving our meals and then was never seen until it was dessert time. My daughter would have liked more dressing for her very DRY Caesar salad with Blacken chicken. This restaurant opens at 4 p.m. on Sunday afternoon and our reservation was at 5 p.m. They were OUT of Prime Rib at 5 p.m. and some nonsense/lame reason was given for it. We expressed our disappointment to the server and the manager and considered paying for our wine and leaving (I wish we had made that choice!) There was a miscommunication on a substitute order of au gratin potatoes in place of parsley potatoes, rice or vegetables. We were charged extra for the au gratin and that was not mentioned at the time of ordering The vegetables (green and yellow squash were over cooked, over steamed and tasteless). Hint: When serving boiled squash, plate it in a bowl placed on the plate to contain all the water. I had squash water floating under my salmon. YUM! All in all it will be a very long time before I visit Market Street again. The menu is pricey and I must say the food, the serve and the experience was NOT worth it. Management didn't seem to care. It's too bad that a restaurant which once had a good reputation believes they can charge $30.00 a plate and deliver a mediocre expereince

    We made reservations and were sat immediately. We waited a substantial amount of time for drinks. Our entree order wasn't taken until after our appetizer (not good) was half-way eaten. At one point my husband had neither water nor soda - and a manager even walked by without fixing that problem. My husband ordered the fisherman's platter, which comes with scallops that we never received. When we asked about it, the waiter said they didn't carry them anymore... Supplier... Blah blah. But this wasn't told to us upon our ordering the dish, nor at it's delivery. They just tried to act like everything was fine. The waiter said they threw in a couple extra shrimp (we had five or six on the plate). They ended up giving my husband free chocolate cake to go. The clam chowder was good. For the $120 (without cocktails) we threw down, we will give our business to someone else.

    Love this place sometimes and then the next time I hate it. It really just depends on what you order. Their steak is great, but their salmon is lacking. Go during lunch because it is a lot cheaper than dinner.

    It's too bad you have to give one star. If I could give zero I would have. Have you ever ordered an entree let's say a platter that has scallops because you like scallops. Then when it comes out there are no scallops. NONE. Then to top it off, the waiter knew I wasn't going to get scallops but didn't tell me! 120 dollars is quite steep to not get what you ordered. I won't even get into waiting for drinks. Safe to say I will not spend my money there again.

    the service here is fantastic! the orange rolls were not as fresh as I remembered but still good. the eggs Benedict with marketstreet potatoes was delicious! I even tried some of the seared tuna and it melted in my mouth.... and I am not a fish person. only downer was no alcohol until 11:30am. I really wanted a bloody Mary.

    I've been to several of the Market Street Grill locations, some many times including the down town one, since I have family members that really do enjoy the chain. For me though, it is somewhere that has an identity crisis. I certainly don't dislike it, in fact I'd not discourage anyone from trying it, and when I do go I generally do enjoy the experience - it's just not somewhere I would personally choose as my destination of choice for a formal occasion. All locations have good ambiance and internal decoration and this one in particular has a definite East coast fishing town feel to it. I love that. But it also sometimes feels like you are a guest at an English mansion house with the well adorned Butler like service. There's nothing wrong with that either per say - in fact those that know me well would understand why I might even enjoy that. However, try to mix those and it just seems a little odd. The service and attentiveness of the servers at any Market Street is great. They can bring coffee and cinnamon rolls at a faster rate than I can even keep up with, if there is ever an issue with any order, they fix it with no question. Most of the staff do seem to be well grounded in the art of service, and why I do begrudgingly enjoy these restaurants. However, the food for me is totally 3 star and why it never truly excites me personally. I'll certainly always happily go to any of their locations if that's the destination of choice for an occasion, I just wouldn't pick it as my choice when it's an occasion I get to pick the destination for :)

    If I could give less than 1 star I would. 180.00 for two however food and service was comparable to Chilis. Everything was greasy and over done. Service slow and the waiter actually said burnt food gives it flavor. Not worth the hype. Special night not so special dining.

    The food was good. The oysters were my favorite part. I like the Kusshi oysters the best. I'll skip on calamari next time. I had the Mexican Sea Bass. I liked the fish, but as a dish it needed more seasoning. Service was good. A little pricy for a 3 star restaurant.

    We are here tonight for my birthday and it was the worst service we've had in a very long time. We ordered the filet and crab and it was cold. The salad had two tiny tomatoes and two slices of a cucumber. Our waitress had a bad attitude from the beginning of our dinner. We were expecting high quality crab and it had very little meat and had to work extremely hard to get it. We will NEVER eat there again! I am extremely disappointed.

    I have eaten at Market Street several times since it has opened and the food has been great. Recently I went for brunch on a Sunday and the service was HORRIBLE. We had a reservation, but it still took an hour to get us seated. Once we were seated it took over an hour for the food. The waitress acted like she was doing us a favor by serving us. Sad to see a restaurant with such great food have such horrible service. I dont think you will see me here anytime soon if at all.

    Market Street has always been my favorite place to eat. I frequently take customers and family to the various restaurants here in the Salt Lake area. In the 10 years I have been enjoying their food, I have never had a bad meal or experience at one of their restaurants, ever. Regrettably I cannot say that after today. .. Here's the summary: Restaurant - The one off of 106th Meal/Menu- Sunday Brunch at 2:00 pm (First Time for me eating off the Brunch Menu...) Food ordered - Chicken Fried New York Steak with eggs, sunny side for me. My wife got the Market Street Omelet. Issues: - Chicken Fried Steak - Egg whites not cooked, Chicken Fried steak was soggy, with the coating appearing to not be cooked through. Funny taste as well. Just not good. - Market Street Omelet - Filling was tasteless, like if came from a jar. The omelets texture was off as well. All in all, neither my wife or I finished our meals. Truly bad food and a total shock for us to encounter at this chain. We truly have come to expect more from Market Street. Will I go back? Yes, in a heart beat, for Lunches or Dinners that is, they kick butt on them. Never again for Brunch though, it is outside of their area of experitise.

    The place is a little over priced, but if you want some good seafood in Utah it's really one of only a few options. The chowder is wonderful, the steaks are good... but the seafood is very well done. The service is much better than other restaurants & the restaurant is bright and welcoming. Again, it's a little pricy, but worth it if you have a craving for halibut, salmon, crab & lobster. I also like this location much better than the downtown location. Fresher & cleaner for sure,,, but it does lack the downtown vibe

    I have been a regular at the Market Street Grill since about 1998. My father considers it to be his favorite place. It has saddened me greatly to watch the service and experience go downhill consistently over the last several years. Food is good. It was great but it seems to have gone downhill along with the service. It may be the same, but with bad service the food just doesn't feel the same. The service is really atrocious. Never have I paid so much for such hostile and crummy service. A few months ago we even had to ask for a new server because ours was so openly hostile to us. While we were assigned someone better, the management did nothing to apologize or make the bad experience better. My advice is avoid Market Street Grill and go pretty much anywhere else.

    I've loved various Gastronomy restaurants my whole life, but service and execution at this location at brunch a few weeks ago left a lot to be desired. In all fairness, our server was in training, but still. We waited five minutes before any server even noticed we'd been seated (and a while after that before he found our server for us) and our appetizer cups of clam chowder arrived as bowls with our entrees-- we didn't even have room on the table for it. Service was crazy slow and we had to ask for cinnamon rolls. Our drinks, screwdrivers, bloody marys and greyhounds, were unfortunately weak, but the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control might be to blame in that area. On the bright side, the brunch food was great. I had the seared ahi-- the soy ginger sauce was amazing and the tuna was cooked rare perfectly. My fiancé enjoyed his New York steak and eggs. I don't remember what my dad had, but he liked it. My mom had the halibut and said it was cooked well, but was served cold. The cinnamon roll and sourdough bread were great as always. The broiled tomato is a good choice and makes you feel slightly better about gorging on brunch, but the breakfast potatoes are fantastic. I'm hoping this was an anomaly because I'd love to go back.

    Love going to Market Street Grill. It is always a special treat. It is definitely on the high end side. It is worth it though. The food is always delicious. My favorites have been the Salmon with crab, asparagus and a creamy sauce on top, and the ahi tuna steak. Everything is always cooked to perfection. The vegetable sides are always fresh and in season. Most recently it was the brussel sprouts, cooked perfectly. I have never loved brussel sprouts more in my life. The potatoes are great in all forms, mashed, au gratin, and fries. The waiters are always attentive and knowledgeable. They give great wine pairing for each portion of the meal. When I ordered the traditional stuffed salmon the waiter told me that I should not get the stuffed salmon from the menu and go with the crab, asparagus salmon. I appreciate a waiter that is not afraid to tell you that you may be making mistake. Always get the clam chowder!! It is the best that I have had anywhere!!

    I feel like Market Street Grill is like The Emperor's New Clothes of restaurants. People flock to the restaurant and pay hefty prices for terrible food. I've been to three different locations for others' birthdays and every time, every location serves food that tastes premade, frozen, thawed, and reheated. The appetizers, fish, and desserts have all tasted prepackaged and mediocre at best. Don't waste your money! Honestly, they have better fish at Costco in the frozen food section.

    My favorite thing about my visit today was that when I asked for any off-the-menu vegetarian options, the waitress suggested a vegetable alfredo pasta, which was delicious. It had big chunks of asparagus, artichoke hearts, green onions and mushrooms and the best vegetarian pasta dish I've had for a while. Also, when I asked to switch my salad for some fries (they really are that delicious) she was accommodating. As other reviews have stated, it really is pricey, but apparently not enough to keep away people. We were one of the first customers through the door and the dining room was full by the time we left.

    I tried the local Utah Trout I believe. It was rather forgettable. I should have opted for their seafood cobb, that looked a lot better. The service was awesome! I ordered an ice tea, and I already got a refill before I was half way done with it.

    PASS THIS PLACE UP! MARGINAL FOOD AT HIGH PRICES. POOR OVERALL EXPERIENCE! We were looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate our daughter's graduation. I was recommended to Market St. Grill by a friend who lives in Utah (she did recommended the Salt Lake restaurant, but we choose South Jordan for location). I looked up their menu on line and decided it fit our needs. That was my first mistake. The on-line menu is incorrect. We arrived and our table for 14 was set up and it looked like a good start. That was the end of that feeling. Our party of 14 began to order. With three vegetarians in the group, I was confident due to the pasta dish on their on-line menu. We were informed that it was no longer available. Worse than that, they were completely UN-accommodating in trying to solve the problem. They said they couldn't make a grill cheese sandwich (the restaurant serves bread and dishes with cheese), all other suggestions were shot down for a vegetarian choice and nothing was offered. We ordered two large platters of shrimp for appetizers. They were fishy and watery. I asked for a Caesar salad with grilled prawns and they acted like they had never heard of such a thing! The prawns were substandard and overcooked. For a seafood restaurant, their seafood is VERY substandard. Every person in our party commented after they would not return. We wanted to go to a local place, but would have been better off had we gone to California Pizza Kitchen, as we did the evening before. Although it's a chain, the food and overall experience is much better. While the servers were cheerful, one flirted relentlessly with one of the young ladies in our party, and made her very uncomfortable. PASS this place up. Pricey for poor quality food and unaccommodating service. It was a big disappointment for an important celebration.

    I wouldn't expect to have great seafood in UT. Market Street was really good. The oysters were fresh and large. The clam chowder was creamy and peppery. The ahi tuna was good. My first serving, I had to send back, because the tuna was overcooked. The waitress was very understanding by kindly taking back the tuna and giving me another cut. I am willing to go back here.

    Don't get it, don't get it, don't get it. I'm sure your thinking. . . "I wonder if this guy gets it?" For clarity, let me just say that I don't get it. I have ordered a number of their dishes over a number of visits, always seafood (as that seems the logical choice from a seafood restaurant) and beyond the crab during their crab event nothing has impressed me. Which stinks considering the pricing. Service staff always feels a little stiff and less than friendly.

    I have been to this location a number of times. I have also been to the location downtown many times. I'm familiar with this restaurant. So, this review is based on the several visits to this location. Rule number one: DO NOT order a steak. Rule number two: DO order seafood. Keeping in mind that this is Utah, the seafood is pretty good. This place cannot cook a steak to save their lives. You will regret ordering a steak here. I've never had any issues with service or staff friendliness. But I have had issues with steaks. I have had steaks ordered medium and they come out completely well done. Not a smidgen of pink or red to be found. I have had steaks come out raw, yes I really do mean raw, when ordered medium. Seriously raw, as in not cooked. They comp'ed the meals, which is good they recognize their mistakes. The seafood that I have had was very tasty. I think the prices reflect the fact that they try to get in "fresh" fish product. In Utah this can be expensive. You can never be to sure just how fresh fish is in Utah. They also have a fish counter where you can buy unprepared fish. Most of it looked good but I have never tried any. The prices seemed reasonable and the options were many. They sell fish that you can't get anywhere else except maybe Tony Caputo Market & Deli downtown. The Sunday morning brunch is delicious and very affordable. If you go early on Sunday, they have lesser prices for brunch.

    I've always loved Market Street Grill! This time was a special occasion for Valentine's Day and it was dead-on perfect! The food was phenomenal - I mean I thought I'd been grilling some good steaks and then I had the beef medallions with crab and realized I'd been grilling garbage. Their clam chowder is the best anywhere, and the sour dough bread is to die for. In addition, the server was great - he put up with all our requests for pictures, was very prompt, kept our glasses full, etc. The ambiance was perfect and there were some really fun characters to watch as well - Teen Wolf, Meth Girl, Blonde Rachel Dratch and fighting couple. Oh, the cute older couple that was watching Kimberly and I for a while and smiling, well that was fun too. To top off the night, we ordered the Key Lime Pie. Now, I've heard the Rasberry Almond Torte is great too, but - I'm not even kidding - the Key Lime Pie made me stop and reconsider everything I'd ever known in life it was SO good. I wanted to eat an entire pie, instead of just the slice we ordered. I coulda done it! I love this place, I would eat here weekly if it wasn't so dang expensive. But for special occasions, it is perfect!

    I want you to imagine your wedding day. Ok now imagine that youre the groom. If youre a chick, its totally fine. Just roll with it. The stage is set. You've got all your friends and family around. Your wife's parents didn't have a budget and even hired J Lo to be the wedding planner. The day is perfect. First comes the flower girl, now, instead of dropping flowers, she is dropping lettuce that just took a bath in caesar dressing. Each time she drops a "flower" she is dropping a slice of the most crisp, delicious mouth watering piece of lettuce you can imagine. The pieces migrate to your plate to form a most amazing caesar salad that have ever danced on your tongue. Next the ring bearer comes. This chubby dimply cheeked boy comes down with a designer pillow and when he gets to you, you untie what would be the rings but instead, this little guy came bearing bread and a scumptious serving of clam chowder. Is that the red or the white? It was the white. This amazing heap of carbs is putting your marriage in question. You've found yourself debating do I marry my fiancé or this gorgeous loaf of love and his sister clam? Next, you hear it, you feel your heart start to pound, the music starts. Elton John begins to play the brides march. You can almost see it, growing with anticipation, you heart beats faster and faster, you want to see it so bad, slowly the bride makes her way down the aisle. Coworkers, friends, and family are astonished at her beauty. Finally she gets to you. You extend both arms and begin to lift the brides veil. You lift slowly until finally it's off. BOOM. Lightly crusted halibut oscar with crab & asparagus up on its roof top like old saint nick. SLAM! Your wedding and Christmas just happened. You have never seen anything so beautiful in your life. You take mental pictures and will remember this day for the rest of your life.

    I either went on a really good night for steaks or the other people reviewing are smoking something..... I had the Filet and it was cooked to perfection. The potatoes were amazing and the clam chowder soup was in the top 2 I have ever had. We also had some jumbo shrimp for appetizers ... they were pretty good, and I am not a huge fan of shrimp that is not battered and dipped in coconut .... Again, after eating a Filet at Ruth Chris its hard to give any place 5 stars, but this was very worthy of 4 stars and a visit back. All in our group seemed to enjoy what they got and the service was good. I guess we went on a good night!

    We've been eating at Market Street Grill for 15 years, for business and personal. It's always been a favorite until this past year or two. Not sure if it's the Riverpark location, which is closer to where we live, but the standard has dropped substantially. Have our tastes changed over the years, or is it really this bad? Of course, the bread is still good. But everything else seems so pedestrian. Heavy sauces, bland food, no finesse. All this wouldn't be as bad if they weren't charging fine dining prices. Example: last night (our LAST) some friends invited us there. I ordered large sea scallops with a lobster sauce. I opted for Steamed veggies instead of a starch. This was $27.00. I got THREE scallops, not particularily large on a plate, swimming in a thick sauce (no idea what kind) then topped with ANOTHER sauce (some kind of cheese sauce maybe) with 2 little sprigs of lobster meat. And a side of sauteed squash. Yup, you got it. Squash, 3 scallops, tiny bit of Lobster in gobs of sauce for $27 dollars. Oh, I guess I got a skimpy salad too. Woot. I asked for some cappellini pasta to soak up some of the sauce. So at least I left full, but really, it was pretty terrible. I walked out and said to my husband LAST TIME and he agreed. We had already made that decision the last time (a few months ago), but didn't want to disappoint our friends. Friends or not, not happening. On top of that, our service was poor. Overworked waiters, trying to save money? Mixed up my husband's order, wrong salad. Of course, the place is still beautiful, the almond raspberry torte is awesome too, but I'll just make it myself from now on.

    We just left here for our birthday brunch and it was delicious! David is a great waiter and they gave as free dessert and free drinks, we were spoiled! I highly recommend the Eggs Benedict or Crab Omelette for a Sunday brunch or special occasion. I think the lunch and dinner are a bit pricey for what you get but the brunch is just the best! The Bloody Mary's are delicious and so cute served with shrimp and celery, and the fresh squeezed orange juice is phenomenal. Keep up the good work!

    Prices went up a couple of months ago for food that was already over priced. They do have a good frequent diner program and annual birthday discounts. The crab legs are to die for but you need a loan to pay for them.

    Visited friends past weekend so we went here for brunch. We missed the early bird menu by ten minutes (over 10am) which probably would have resulted in at least one more star given the 20%+ discount on four items including eggs benedict. One friend ordered them; looked very good and egg size jumbo. She really enjoyed it as she does not eat the potatoes which were terrible to me and blah to the other two (a scoop of hard cooked potatoes diced and covered with cheese - only good part). For $4 more they added a couple ounces of crab legs to her EG. Other friend ordered a seafood omelet which had no seafood that he could pick out. They are not complainers so he did not mention that until after we left. I had asked about other potato choices before ordering; none; which is absurd given that the $9.50+ breakfast items came with no toast or muffin, only sticky buns upon arrival (good but not everyone wants a sugar high which breakfast). My ham and cheese omelet was over cooked and had about 2 ounces of ham (she had said it was a slice chopped up). There was plenty of cheese. The server was very attentive and nice and one friend did enjoy his Bloody Mary cocktail (we sat on the Oyster Bar side as they wanted to drink but our meals were the same as the other side which is why I rated under this side - two names on Yelp for same building.

    If only I had reviewed this location a few months ago, it would have received 4 stars. Alas, a fairly brutal server experience while the in-laws were in town made me pissy. Some of the highlights --3 requests for bread. We heard, 'your bread will be right out' so many times we started saying it ourselves, hoping that at any minute our chants would come true -- and 27 minutes for icecream and a piece of cake. Really? 27 minutes? I can run 3 miles in that amount of time. Dis-appoint-ing. Truly.

    I've been to several of the Market Street Grill locations, some many times including the down town one, since I have family members that really do enjoy the chain. For me though, it is somewhere that has an identity crisis. I certainly don't dislike it, in fact I'd not discourage anyone from trying it, and when I do go I generally do enjoy the experience - it's just not somewhere I would personally choose as my destination of choice for a formal occasion. All locations have good ambiance and internal decoration and this one in particular has a definite East coast fishing town feel to it. I love that. But it also sometimes feels like you are a guest at an English mansion house with the well adorned Butler like service. There's nothing wrong with that either per say - in fact those that know me well would understand why I might even enjoy that. However, try to mix those and it just seems a little odd. The service and attentiveness of the servers at any Market Street is great. They can bring coffee and cinnamon rolls at a faster rate than I can even keep up with, if there is ever an issue with any order, they fix it with no question. Most of the staff do seem to be well grounded in the art of service, and why I do begrudgingly enjoy these restaurants. However, the food for me is totally 3 star and why it never truly excites me personally. I'll certainly always happily go to any of their locations if that's the destination of choice for an occasion, I just wouldn't pick it as my choice when it's an occasion I get to pick the destination for :)

    If I could give less than 1 star I would. 180.00 for two however food and service was comparable to Chilis. Everything was greasy and over done. Service slow and the waiter actually said burnt food gives it flavor. Not worth the hype. Special night not so special dining.

    The food was good. The oysters were my favorite part. I like the Kusshi oysters the best. I'll skip on calamari next time. I had the Mexican Sea Bass. I liked the fish, but as a dish it needed more seasoning. Service was good. A little pricy for a 3 star restaurant.

    We are here tonight for my birthday and it was the worst service we've had in a very long time. We ordered the filet and crab and it was cold. The salad had two tiny tomatoes and two slices of a cucumber. Our waitress had a bad attitude from the beginning of our dinner. We were expecting high quality crab and it had very little meat and had to work extremely hard to get it. We will NEVER eat there again! I am extremely disappointed.

    I have been to this location a number of times. I have also been to the location downtown many times. I'm familiar with this restaurant. So, this review is based on the several visits to this location. Rule number one: DO NOT order a steak. Rule number two: DO order seafood. Keeping in mind that this is Utah, the seafood is pretty good. This place cannot cook a steak to save their lives. You will regret ordering a steak here. I've never had any issues with service or staff friendliness. But I have had issues with steaks. I have had steaks ordered medium and they come out completely well done. Not a smidgen of pink or red to be found. I have had steaks come out raw, yes I really do mean raw, when ordered medium. Seriously raw, as in not cooked. They comp'ed the meals, which is good they recognize their mistakes. The seafood that I have had was very tasty. I think the prices reflect the fact that they try to get in "fresh" fish product. In Utah this can be expensive. You can never be to sure just how fresh fish is in Utah. They also have a fish counter where you can buy unprepared fish. Most of it looked good but I have never tried any. The prices seemed reasonable and the options were many. They sell fish that you can't get anywhere else except maybe Tony Caputo Market & Deli downtown. The Sunday morning brunch is delicious and very affordable. If you go early on Sunday, they have lesser prices for brunch.

    I've always loved Market Street Grill! This time was a special occasion for Valentine's Day and it was dead-on perfect! The food was phenomenal - I mean I thought I'd been grilling some good steaks and then I had the beef medallions with crab and realized I'd been grilling garbage. Their clam chowder is the best anywhere, and the sour dough bread is to die for. In addition, the server was great - he put up with all our requests for pictures, was very prompt, kept our glasses full, etc. The ambiance was perfect and there were some really fun characters to watch as well - Teen Wolf, Meth Girl, Blonde Rachel Dratch and fighting couple. Oh, the cute older couple that was watching Kimberly and I for a while and smiling, well that was fun too. To top off the night, we ordered the Key Lime Pie. Now, I've heard the Rasberry Almond Torte is great too, but - I'm not even kidding - the Key Lime Pie made me stop and reconsider everything I'd ever known in life it was SO good. I wanted to eat an entire pie, instead of just the slice we ordered. I coulda done it! I love this place, I would eat here weekly if it wasn't so dang expensive. But for special occasions, it is perfect!

    We came for a Christmas event with expectations high and stomachs empty. Overall we left very satisfied. Our server Jayson was energetic and very adept at answering our many questions about the menu. He actually had recommendations that weren't even on the menu which I appreciate being our first time here. The crab cakes were tasty with mostly crab and very little filler in them. The crab artichoke dip was perfectly crafted with some crunchy breading broiled on top. It really hit the spot. Swordfish was decent but nothing to scream about. The king crab legs were perfection. They were enormous and so sweet. I would venture to say that for seafood in land locked Utah, this is the best place to get it.

    it's rare we leave a ton of food - but we did. my fish was to be encrusted with pistasios and it was more like lightly dusted. we also ordered the stuffed mushrooms - 2 coworkers and i couldn't even bring ourselves to finish 1 each. drinks were over priced and the waitress was just ok. i won't be going back (this was my second attempt)

    I think this all depends on who's in the kitchen. We've had good experiences where the fish was cooked and flavored well, but more times it hasn't been. Very inconsistent. Love the decor and atmosphere. Service has always been fine.

    Great service and great food! The salmon and halibut cooked On a cedar plank were delicious. The chowder is always wonderful. A bit pricey, but well worth it for a special occasion.

    For my birthday I came here with a group of 18 people for brunch. Out of every restaurant I called they were happy to accommodate our large group. The Bloody Mary's were delicious and spicy. There was a small menu basically eggs Benedict with options of adding on crab cakes (delicious) or salmon (large portion cooked perfectly moist and flaky) or steak. They had a few omelet choices, french toast and brought to the table before meals was plates of fresh cinnamon rolls. Service was not rushed and they were very pleasant when dividing up the check.

    There was a day, many eons ago, that Market Street and its sister restaurants dominated the SLC restaurant scene. Oh, how times have changed. With strong competition across the valley from chef-driven restaurants, Market Street has become a dinosaur struggling to survive. My recent visit to the Market Street location in South Jordan has solidified my opinion that this is a restaurant well past its prime, producing food that pales in quality versus its myriad upstart competition. On this latest visit I decided to try the traditional no-brainer, fish and chips. No one could possibly screw that up. Market Street did its best. First off, the price is steep for this meal. $14 for two very small battered and fried pieces of cod, a surprisingly meager portion of french fries and a small cup of cole slaw. As mentioned, the fish pieces were small, and not that tasty. The meat inside was a tad overcooked. The fries were actually prepared very well, but so engulfed in salt that they were difficult to consume. The cole slaw was good, and the tartar sauce was quite tasty, but I didn't come for the condiments. I should mention that my sister, with whom I dined, ordered the grilled salmon, and it was practically inedible. The salmon flesh was rubbery, seemingly overcooked. It was bizarre. The server took it back and replaced it with a fresh piece. No word yet on whether it was worthy of consumption, she had to take it home. Regarding the clam chowder. It's simply not as great as people report. I find the broth to be overly thick and floury, certainly it doesn't stand up to some of the fine chowders I've had in the northeast. The clam pieces tend to be small and not very flavorful. The sourdough bread is decent, at least. No, I simply can't legitimately endorse this restaurant. It's terribly overpriced for food that simply isn't worthy of such exhorbitancy. This is your parents' (or perhaps their parents') restaurant. Let them "enjoy" it and dine elsewhere.

    I ate here September 15 dinner service. I came in with a large group. There was about 12 of us. We ordered drinks and appetizers first. We had calamari and shrimp cocktail. Both were awesome. I ordered grilled halibut and clam chowder. I was glad the server asked if I wanted it broiled on fire or fried. I asked for it to be broiled which I highly recommend. The service here is top notch. Much applause to the kind-of-tall blonde lady server with narrow eyes (sorry I forgot your name). She did an awesome job! By the way we were seated to left of the entrance by the left side.

    We always bring our clients here when they're in town. They have a wide selection of seafood and all drinks you want from the bar. Look out for their oysters special, you don't want to miss the prices! I love the energy of the staff and the restaurant setting. Nice place for a date or for entertaining guests from out of town.

    As is the case with other Market Street locations, this is a very nicely appointed building, with all the right menu options, cloth napkins, and stuffy wait staff wearing white aprons. All *should* be good to go...but...(yes, there's a big but)... I've still never found anything on the menu here that makes me want to keep going back. The fish, although they claim very fresh, is always too fishy (which...doesn't that mean it's really not all that fresh?), and frankly the fish I've tried hasn't been cooked or prepared that well. The non-fish choices are just as disappointing - they must assume the vast majority of patrons order fish, so they put relatively little effort into the other options. To be fair and specific, here's what I've tried and not liked: Crab Ravioli - Halibut Oscar - Seared Ahi Tuna (entree & appetizer) - Orange Roughy - French Dip Sandwich - Fish & Chips - Maryland Crab Cakes - Shrimp Cocktail...that's quite a list of disappointments for a touted local restaurant chain. If you're like me, and forced to eat here regularly for business (a.k.a. you are not paying the bill), here are the choices I've found that are *safe* to order: clam chowder (actually very tasty, and rightfully so for the $7 per bowl price tag), the Market Street Salad (greens, shrimp & crab which will set you back $23!!!). Bottom line - I only go here if I'm coerced by business associates. Not a good thing for any establishment.

    The best thing about this place is the fresh halibut (when they have it) and the Raspberry almond torte. We had the onion rings tonight & they really hit the spot! The sweet onions tasted really fresh. Their fries are really good too! Service can be good or bad, we've had both, but the kids meals are a great deal (even comes with Haagen Daz ice cream) and our kids love the place! It's where we go when we want a fairly nice meal but the kids are coming along. The kids meal grilled cheese is made with real cheese and not processed cheese product. We keep going back because it fits that niche for us!

    I have not had a bad meal here, and I have has a ton of good ones! When I take clients out this is often where I'll go (unless they are from the coast, cause you don't take someone from SF or Seattle to fish in Utah). Anyway, I have not found anywhere consistently better for seafood. It is always fresh. My only negative would be the service at times. I have gone and felt like they forgot about me. Once they gave away one of our plates, but didn't say anything until I asked if they'd given away the plate. I marked not good for kids because, 1) you spend too much time for inpatient kids, and 2) it's too expensive. Despite the spotty service, the food has always been good, so yeah, I am a fan!

    Went for Sunday brunch, the prices were very reasonable. I got an omelet and it was delicious. My husband got eggs benedict which came with their potatoes. Well, there was cheese cooked in them. He is allergic to cheese. He asked for some without and the server said they don't have any. What made me irritated was for "Market Street" he didn't even offer any kind of replacement. He was very short with us. Then later trying to make up for it so he could get a decent tip he tried talking to us but by then it was just annoying. Wish I had his name. It was on the Oyster Bar side. We were at IHOP the week before out of town and we got WAY better service. I realize it was just this one kid but maybe the restaurant really didn't have regular potatoes - which means they're pre-made? For a nice place, that makes me question.

    I have such a hard time with this place. The food is fantastic, but is it worth super slow service and rude servers? We usually go with a group of 7 and it takes at least 2 hours to finish our meal. Which would be fine except usually the first 1/2 hour is just waiting. They try to make it fine dining but it just doesn't cut it. I have eaten here regularly for almost 7 years and each year the service gets worse. Now that I try to take young children it is horrible. Often times we have servers try to completely ignore my kids and their orders altogether even though they eat fish and love coming! I will say their desserts are awesome.

    I've had lunch here three times and the food is always fantastic. It's the food that kept me coming back. The problem is the amateurish service. They really need to hire some experienced fine dining servers or get some sort of training program going for the current staff. I won't be returning a fourth time.

    On our 32nd wedding anniversary we wanted to go out for a very special dinner. We wanted seafood and decided to go to Market Street Grill in South Jordan. Really it was a great choice! The waitress was wonderful! We got a huge platter 1 lb of gulf shrimp to share and then both had chowder and for our entrees we had lobster tail! The reason we keep coming back to this place is for the freshness of the seafood and the chowder! You pay more but to me it is worth it..... it is the absolute best chowder around! I can't really tell the difference between the lobster from here and the "other" place but the real difference is the fresh shrimp and the chowder! If you want the best come here! I also like the frequent diners club! It's worth it! Thanks for making our day special!

    I love to come by for special occasions. The food is on the expensive side but quite delicious. For my tastes it doesn't get any better than the Raspberry Almond Tort. The taste and texture of this dessert puts it in my top 5 for sure.

    I forgot to post my pictures, when I got my new cell phone they were lost. This place isn't as good as it used to be. We ordered the 1lb of cold shrimp, some calamari, clam chowder, and my wife ordered the gulf coast shrimp & scallops and I ordered the Parmesan crusted sole for our main courses. The only thing I could say that was good was the sourdough bread and butter. Not worth the high price for subpar food. Don't think I will be going back.

    This is a great spot for a business lunch. The table spacing is great and the noise level low so conversations can be had. Also, I like the Oyster Bar next door for an after work drink. Finally, their pricing is more affordable than you might think.

    By far the worst experience I have had to this day. I asked for ice tea with no lemon and Megan asked "just ice tea? Nothing in it? ". Yea that's what ice tea is without lemon... Just ice tea... Why would she try to make a big deal about it... I ordered asparagus got broccoli... Thanks sunshine. I'm allergic to broccoli nor can I eat anything that touched it and side note whispering and saying the "OTHER" server was to blame when you and her both brought our table was a bit much... Good way to throw somebody under the bus when it was your responsibility. The mash potatoes where rubbery and crusty from being under the heater. I asked for the salad and she yet again questioned me " are you sure you don't want dressing? She asked on the dessert order for 3 out of the 5 of us before one of our party was even finished with her meal then asked me and the other one still eating if we are going to share a dessert. And when I gave up waiting for my To go box...because she was getting another tables food our desserts. She came back and questioned why I didn't want to take it with... Hey Megan, if someone asked for something. Not the best idea to request ion them on the order making a big deal about it. You embarrassed me and upset my guest that was still eating that really did want dessert but because the way you treated us. We were done. Maybe be observant when I never touched the mashed potatoes, never touched the broccoli and only took 2 bites of the Tilapia that something was wrong. And sadly NEVER offered to get a manager.

    Yeah--they have four-cheese ravioli on the menu again!! Their vendor went out of business so they make their own now. I thought the sauce used to be a creamy marinara but our server said it is the same. The $16 small lunch special only came with two pieces of garlic bread, so I ordered a house salad--always great. The halibut with hollandaise sauce was just okay. Nice cheesy potatoes and fresh broccoli. My daughter ordered their delicious clam chowder with her entree. Their best dessert is probably the raspberry almond sponge cake. Yum. But $70 for lunch with no drinks? Yikes!!

    The clam chower and sour dough bread are amazingly good. We also enjoyed their crab capresie (sp?) salad that was wonderful. The tuna sandwich was barely OK though, It had a big slice of tomato. But tomato in March tastes like a golf ball, which made the entire sandwich taste like a golf ball. I think in the winter they should try something else to liven up the sandwich.

    I've been here several times with my friend and we've always had a terrible experience with customer service or lack thereof. Today has sealed the deal and we don't plan on going back to this location for a VERY long time, if even, ever. We arrived at approximately 7:30. We were waiting to be seated and we were told it was gonna be about 25 minutes for 2 people and and one kid (5 years old). We decided to wait and noticed that not all the tables were filled. Weird. 5 minutes pass and the hostess asked if we wanted to sit at the oyster bar but since my friend brought her kid along we decided not to. 10 more minutes passed and we were ready to be seated. Seemed like 10-15 minutes until our waiter came by to even introduce himself and take our drink orders. Another 10-15 to bring out my sprite and bread then take our actual orders. My friend and I mainly came for the oysters since it was half off for Monday. We got half a dozen of oysters, (blue something I think), the oysters rockafeller, clam chowder and crab cakes to share. We also got a grilled cheese for the little one. It literally took 30 minutes for the clam chowder to come out. We finished and sat and talked for another good 15 minutes or so to get the rest of our food out. By this time, our chowder had settled and we didn't even want to eat anymore. But we managed to finish our food. The fresh oysters were the highlight of my night but definitely not worth waiting almost an hour for. I was getting a little worried that maybe we were getting such crappy service due to our ethnicity since we happened to be the only Asians amongst a whole restaurant full of Caucasians. Our waiter would come every half hour or so to apologize and tell us how "slammed" he was, noticing people that had been seated long before us barely getting their food just before we got ours as well. Which was slightly relieving, but not really. We were clearly finished with our food and our waiter asked if our child was ready for his ice cream, he brought it out and another 15 minutes or so brought our checks. FINALLY. We left at about 9:30 when we settled everything. Even if my intervals were off about how often the waiter helped us and bring us our food, TWO HOURS is REALLY ridiculous. "Ain't nobody got time for that." I'd be more understandable if the restaurant was more packed but they weren't so what was the big deal? This location needs MAJOR improvement on customer service. Food was good, a little too pricey for what you actually get. Overall, if you want all the time in the world to talk to your dinner date, with no food in the way, by all means come to this place. But if you're impatient at all. STEER CLEAR!

    i use to come here almost weekly from 2003-2009, but sadly their service started going downhill around 2010. i decided to give them another try and was pleasantly surprised. the service was actually really good and the food was delicious just like i use to remember it being! their seafood is really fresh and i love getting their halibut. all of their food is great and i ended with my usual sabayon dessert.

    Place is pretty good. The planked salmon is great. Best clam chowder out there. Dinner is a bit expensive for the amount of food you get. Service is good and the place is clean. Needs to be updated because you can tell furniture is old and dated. I would say make this the place your 2nd choice. For the price I would expect better food and an updated establishment. Unless your trying to impress your date or co workers by dropping $100 for dinner go somewhere cheaper with better food. Jason has been the best waiter we have had so far.

    We've been to market street grill many times before. My younger sister actually had her wedding at market Street at the Cottonwood location in which I helped paid for. I actually favored this place in the past. We came here for Mother's Day 2015. We were excited as most families would be to gather and enjoy great food on a holiday, I ordered the filet mignon with eggs Benedict, the food arrived after 50 min but it's expected on a holiday. The filet mignon I ordered was so rubbery I could not chew through it, also the eggs were separate from the muffin, eggs Benedict should be on top, plus the flavoring was bland. I did not touch the plate. Needless to say I informed the waiter David, he was an absolute gentleman and he offered to have the kitchen start a new plate. I politely declined the offer because I knew the time to reorder based on the delivery time of our present meal, it would not work out with the rest of my party finishing their meal. The waiter kindly removed my order off the bill. I wish it could've turned out better. Hopefully it was an isolated event. 1 star for the location and atmosphere and 1 extra star because the server did his part.

    I really like Market Street and I'm not afraid to admit it! They fly in fresh seafood daily and they let you know which selectoins are fresh off the plane. The clam chowder at Market Street is every bit as good as what I had in San Francisco. And that is high praise, indeed. I've never had poorly prepared fish here and I've been to this particular location many times. The only complaint I have with Market Street is about their side dishes. You get to choose from bland boiled potatoes, plain-jane rice or not-so-great french fries. All 3 are sub-par, to put it mildly. If they would get some TASTY and inventive side dish choices, I'd bump Market Street to 5 stars.

    I do not know why I keep going back to this location. The best part of their food is the Clam Chowder. With me I order a bowl of chowder, small plate of shrimps scampi and small plate of crab cake. I ask that she would wait between the chowder and the small plate, that did not happen. It took 5 min to bring me a straw and I am still waiting for the ice tea that never showed up. Here comes the small plate, one problem the crab cakes was a full order not the small plate. I told her I order a small plate (one crab cake). Now it took 10 min for it to show back up. When it did it was cold so it went back, this time the just heated it up and try to hide with a salad on the side. I cannot do lettuce do to the oral cancer. This time I asked for a manger, he took it away and brought a new one. With the salad on the side again, it was hot but the bottom of the crab cake was drowning in vinegar and oil. The manager was helpful but it seems I was interrupting him. The only one I would go to is the one in downtown salt lake.

    Excellent customer service! The free bread is quite tasty! For the main course I had the top sirloin with parsley boiled potatoes. Tasted good but was not as awesome as I expected for that price. I was going to order the king crab legs but $70 for 2 legs was not worth it when I could go to Harmons and get the same quality for a great deal less and all I have to do is steam them. This would have received 3 stars but the customer service was so amazing it pushed the rating to 4.

    Our family was celebrating some events Sunday 3-1-2015. We all met at Market Street to celebrate. Here is a list of my issues with this establishment based on our experience: The services was mediocre. The server did check back VERY EARLY into receiving our meals and then was never seen until it was dessert time. My daughter would have liked more dressing for her very DRY Caesar salad with Blacken chicken. This restaurant opens at 4 p.m. on Sunday afternoon and our reservation was at 5 p.m. They were OUT of Prime Rib at 5 p.m. and some nonsense/lame reason was given for it. We expressed our disappointment to the server and the manager and considered paying for our wine and leaving (I wish we had made that choice!) There was a miscommunication on a substitute order of au gratin potatoes in place of parsley potatoes, rice or vegetables. We were charged extra for the au gratin and that was not mentioned at the time of ordering The vegetables (green and yellow squash were over cooked, over steamed and tasteless). Hint: When serving boiled squash, plate it in a bowl placed on the plate to contain all the water. I had squash water floating under my salmon. YUM! All in all it will be a very long time before I visit Market Street again. The menu is pricey and I must say the food, the serve and the experience was NOT worth it. Management didn't seem to care. It's too bad that a restaurant which once had a good reputation believes they can charge $30.00 a plate and deliver a mediocre expereince
